Keeping a pet is the same as an Arab locking up his wife

Pets seem like something for people who get lonely, and who cannot stand to be alone, so they enslave a little animal, and lock them up inside their home, deprive them of love from any other source.... so the animal is forced to trauma bond with their captor, and then the owner gets to feel loved and like they "saved a life"

Its similar to arab men locking up their wives

What led to these thoughts?  Did it start from looking at pets or being around them and bing-bang-boom Arab wife enslavement?  Or the other way around?

EDIT: Actually, reading from one of your latest responses in your 2025 adventures thread, it may have to do with your current survivalism kink.  The keyword being 'lonely' in there.  Are you contemplating having a pet but ...rationalizing why not to?

Dogs and cats are not part of the ecosystem. Cats are not the same thing as European wild cats. (Stop releasing cats into the wild.)

I was laying on the floor today and my dog came up and started putting it's wet nose in my neck, sniffing really loudly. And then she rolled on me and laid her head on me trying to using me as a bed. I basically cannot lay down on the floor because she wants to use me as a dog bed.

My cat when I first met him came to the front door of my house and began yelling to be let in. I complied with his wishes and, years later, he's still around.

I would not call him a locked up wife.

I don’t usually like what Luna has to say but

hard agree.

its like Stockholm Syndrome. And also why I don’t like most dog owners more often then cat owners.
in my opinion animals have free will. If you are taking care of a baby animal I think you have a responsibility to keep it safe which may mean not letting it outside, but once it is an adult I think it is crazy to decide you get to take away choice and free will from another being and decide to keep it trapped in a box (your house). If it wants to live with you it will come back at the end of the day.

i do think it’s okay to live with animals if you befriend one, or are in a situation where you have become responsible for an animal that is sick, injured, or still a baby and can’t defend itself. But if it’s an adult you are holding captive just to make yourself feel better, I think you’re sick.

lol I def want a pet but I'm like 65% certain I will just get bored of it, and then taking care of it will become a obligation... until I ultimately abandon it or something.

Or maybe like the dog will capture my love and we will be best friends. I don't know myself well enough to know how it ends if I get a doggy.

Used to let the cat out everyday. Even in a blizzard, I'd be like, damn cat are you serious ? "Meah, meah". Okay. There he goes. Snow cat.

Everyday on the sidewalk next to traffic. On the rooftops, down the street at the cat house with other cats. Across the street in the park area. The neighbor has him, his other alias was Anastasia. Told the lady it's a he and how a chinese guy we know had is balls removed. Then she started calling him Indy. I was #1 and she was #2. He was territorial. The King of the block. The other cats weren't like him, though the orange hairy one was fearless.

Friend of mine who at the time lived with his Mom, they got a cat and they never let it out ever. It slipped out the door a few times, but it always came back.

People don't let their pet's go for various reasons. Fear of them getting hurt. Some pets will run at full speed and get lost. Or end up getting ran over. I know a dog that's been picked up miltiple times. The kennel hates seeing the same people over again from what I gather.

Not every pet is like my ex cat. Keeping them indoors and on a leash It's for the animal's safety. They're happy to be at home with their masters, if not then either the animal or the owner is fucked up.
