I'd seen these alongside The Wonder Years (1, 2, Horror Synth) ones a while back. Still good stuff, and a nice commentary on the impacts that editing can have on tone and expectation.

Probably why it has remained popular over time while laugh track heavy shows dont seem to keep popularity as long
Actually, the laugh track strongly changes the tone of the episodes. Taking it away makes Ross seem straight up autist-psycho.
Watch the vids, they're an example of the psychological impacts of adding outside noise. Friends with the laugh track actually isn't that great of a show, it's more of a symptom of it's audience and the times.
