Middle management exists because the drones are retarded. If the grunts could learn from past experience or plan ahead it would be unnecessary. My job is 50% steps that are beyond their mental capacity (remember to communicate with the client, and create a schedule) and 50% babysitting to make sure they accomplished the tasks they should be able to handle.
Told the most senior lacky 10 times Friday they can't leave until everything is ready for the contract starting Monday. They emailed me to tell me everything is ready. I come in Monday, look at the fucking checklist that was printed out sitting on their desk. First thing on the contract agreement hasn't been started. I asked about it. The shock and bewilderment. They had no idea what I was talking about.
In America anyone who can read a checklist can be a middle manager.
