Isn’t it
Edit: Huh, the original expression seems to be "Beware of Greeks Bearing Gifts". I'd originally heard it without the Greek part.
I wrote this myself I don’t know what you’re talking about
Your thing comes from story of Trojan Horse
Moreover the idea that those who want to get things from you tend to come bearing gifts. I've seen it apply with things like free samples to get their foot in the door, or offering food to sit through a presentation.
In general, presenting a gift offers the presenter a lot of leverage. The gift itself has functions that can suggest the other person follow a course of action and it elicits reason for expecting reciprocation.
If a person is their tools, the things they find themselves thinking about, then giving them tools can change them as a person. As such, that which is given for free is often done so for a purpose.
I should have written kindness is disarming isn’t it I wasn’t referencing anything you’re discussing at all
Care to elaborate on it then?
Isn’t it
How do you feel about it though? Positively or suspiciously? What is your take? It certainly can be disarming to meet a genuinely generous person, but that often raises someone's feelings of cynicism. Many feel a transactional impulse. In a place like this forum, most will be pretty paranoid about a truly altruistic type of personality. Myself, I might bend on that side of the spectrum.
"Disarming" is a fairly neutral descriptor: it is disarming, yes, but what comes after finding out their genuine nature (or not) is more the feeling attributed to it.

I don't think she actually wants a discussion, she's probably just venting.
You know, like manic people do.
