When they turn it into another religion that oversimplifies the world into bite size pieces, lol. Then they project onto people that actually recognize how fallibility is not in contradiction to science but actually a part of it. Fallibility=/=wrong but the potential to be wrong.

I feel like The Right loves the idea of Science moreso than Science itself.
Examples: Flat Earth theory and Intelligent Design.
Flat earth was debunked by the flat earthers with their own experiment. The one where they bought the $20,000 gyroscope and the earth moved 15 degrees in an hour. There are several other experiments that can also put serious doubt on the flat earth theory.
Although I have not done the experiments myself, I take it on faith that others have and here lies the problem with mass population science.
