I know this looks disgusting, and kind of like it might be 'extra' but it's actually worth it. My parents have an old 60's-florida beach cottage. It's a wonderful and now coveted location, but the interior is just dated, and very well loved. It's a high traffic home with lots of pets, and cooking so many party-sized meals, it would make your head spin. We refer to our home as "The Gatsby House" because it's where the entire family has had its parties and events for the last 30 years. Hard to believe this little stove has done all of that, and lasted since the actual 60's! It's in need of a replacement for sure, but while we're saving and designing the beautiful modern kitchen-reno the Gatsby home deserves, giving all that "vintage" a restorative face lift with some deep cleaning.

Decided to pour some love into our little vintage beach villa and this is the result! Stay tuned.

RE: “charming” 60’s beach cottage (unrenovated)

Are you even above the median?

The decrease in the national median existing-home price in May from a year earlier. That’s the largest drop since December 2011, the National Association of Realtors said. The median price? $396,100. High interest rates are pricing out many potential buyers and prompting homeowners with low rates on their current mortgages to stay put.

It didn't work because I used goof off not easy off. Will keep trying different methods. I feel stupid but it was worth a shot right... no, that was honestly stupid. The hack clearly said easy off and I was like "goof off and easy off are the same thing!" no, they are not. why was i so stupid?????????

I don't know what I'm doing, so I've realized I need to educate myself and, keep asking questions, keep researching until I'm getting the results I want realistically. Right?

I also realize that testing this cleaning hack on a vintage stove top that's been in heavy use since the actual 60's, while not properly maintained... it's really not the best test subject to be going with, and there may be a lot of factors contributing to why it's not working in this particular instance.

But yeah, if I can find an easy hack that actually works, on these, I'll be shocked. And that's what I'm kind of hoping for or is motivating me to do this, is this notion that there is truly a cleaning hack out there that will save a lot of time and effort cleaning that I can use over and over.

In the mean time I got a bit distracted, at first I accepted the fail as a dead end and said, ah, I'll just quit that then. But no, I shouldn't quit. I should keep going. Because, this is science.

I'm also working on a really satisfying before and after closet renovation video.

In the mean time, enjoy this simple easy coffee recipe to try. I was just excited to be using my super affordable cups from target and wanted to share them with the world. More people need to know about these

This is what I've been showed would happen, I bought easy off so this should work. Brand new can.

However, I'm wondering, if the easy off and cling wrap doesn't work this time, there are a few other methods I've seen for "restoring" very vintage kitchen things from their original state to "like new"... restorative cleaning is really a whole other thing, is what I'm learning, based on youtube. Lol

Because science. It was my hope it would be as easy as easy off, but this only works in some applications, not all! Vintage restoration may need more intensive measures than even this, which is basically using a chemical harsh enough to remove paint from your car, and the seal off of wood floors. lol

Disclaimer: don't be dumb

Yeah, please research before you use chemicals. You may damage your tile, wood, etc, and obviously don't mix things just because someone on the internet did it. For example someone used this on linoleum, only because it was a really extreme case and the floors were going to have to be ripped up. They were a goner already, so they didn't mind doing it. But, technically, not supposed to use easy off on linoleum because it damages it.
