The shell was her home and her prison as well.

 i have a lot to say about this actually first off, is this why emily calls herself a turtle? she subconsciously is expressing all of her wanting to hide? is it based off this song? does she had hope to escape? from love? if so, why is she hiding and when did this start?

on a second note i showed this to br and he got all cuddly and affectionate because my husband and i call eachother turtles as pet names and always have done this since before we were even married. it started when i started calling him "turtle" first. i originally also called him rat but this did not have the same ring for him lol. but he thought turtle was adorable and we have been calling eachother that ever since, making art and songs about us being together as turtles and buying eachother gifts with turtles on them.  we developed a deeper metaphorical reason to call eachother this as well over time. i also go to open mic nights like this quite often and i usually sing at open mic nights, and i often do improvised love songs for my husband there, so i can resonate a lot from this video for that reason as well.
