Good video, blanc. Obsession is never about 'love' for the actual person, it's unresolved childhood trauma or neglect being acted out repeatedly. The target is inconsequential. That's why trying to reason with someone about their obsession or target is without fruit.
Psychotherapy is best approach yes, to help someone obsessing see the cognitive patterns and beliefs that keep them stuck. They usually have negative beliefs about themselves and fear of the traumas being repeated. It's all in the subconscious though so it's hard to bring out. They feel out of control because of how their brain is wired from the trauma and get overwhelmed easily because of worn in neuropathways. It's similar behavioral experience for BPD/PTSD. If there are comorbidities, like bipolar, it's even harder. hooo boy
