Tennessee restricts public drag shows

Tennessee is now the first state to restrict drag performances in public. The new bill includes topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators, or similar entertainers under the definition of 'adult cabaret performance.' Drag performers are saying that family-friendly drag shows are being misconstrued as sexual.

Why do drag queens even need to perform for kids? I get the whole inclusivity schtick but are drag queens the tool to teach tolerance? Is that the real message they send? Or is this pushing something? Is the left trolling conservatives?

Making Drag more taboo will only increase it's power.

They do it because they are sexually perverted, and they don't have many options.

For example, transexuals boast they are really what they claim to be. In the case of a man pretending to be a woman and insisting they are genuine, what evident to them is that they are bound to only dating queer people, while straight people don't want them.

So they'll indoctrinate children by confusing the genders, making them think they choose their gender, and they also sexualize children.

Faggots like this stuff and they especially call it progress.

Homosexuality only serves a selfish function with no other purpose. I'm not saying if that's a good or bad a bad thing, but in my opinion to impose it on children is evil, and even more sinister when one understands the effects it has on us as a species.

If it's about the kids, I assume their next step will be targeting their child poverty rate. Maybe by implementing paid family leave, increasing funding and access to public housing, expanding social services etc

Making Drag more taboo will only increase it's power.

Unless they are all shot. I do not even mind drag people, but this kind of public show-off is creating an undisciplined culture where people think they can do anything without consequences. The only point of these shows is some kind of fetish and attention-seeking, I don't see why they need to do it otherwise. It just puts off normal people and demoralizes them, unnecessarily. The simple truth is that it is ugly, so it is unpleasing to look at. If it was beautiful people won't mind it.

Faggots as they say.

It is the same when gay people kiss, straight people with functional empathy and without desensitization to shock will instantly feel disgusted because they put themselves in the gay couple's place. It is also true for straight people kissing, but that has a far more diminished effect. However, the feeling of ugly disgust is far smaller than the sight of a fetish drag show. There is a time and place for both of these things and they should not be in the general public. I can excuse the kissing though since its purpose is rarely attention-seeking fetish, but rather genuine affection.

Such a fetish parade should be done in a specific place with this specific event, so people who are interested in it will come.

These ugly and disgusting feelings demoralize people, especially when they know these are their fellow humans that build the culture they live in.

I do not favor complete individualism, because people are selfish, stupid assholes.

Cheery bye!

This has been politicized by the loudest voices so there can’t be reasonable discussion. If you don’t think kids need drag queen story hour you are immediately labeled homophobe or some anti progressive slur. Gay people don’t necessarily want this either. Also don’t conflate it with child welfare like poverty. Ofc that should be a priority. This  not a zero sum game. Just hold the question on its own, is this the best way to teach tolerance. Is it age appropriate? Does it push negative stereotypes of gays and women? Just some questions to think about.

Oh yes, blame the Drag Queens for the degeneracy of US culture. 🙄

They're a convenient scapegoat, and much like Spatial when others outside of that category do something similar, if not worse, they turn a blind eye towards it.

The only crime Drag people have committed, as a group, is against Fashion. The Gaudy looking ones set us all back, but many take it into the realm of Art, like the likes of shows like Beach Blanket Babylon:

Rocky Horror as well, it took Drag Culture to make such a Masterpiece:

There's even the like of John Waters, Drag culture spans pretty far back:

The more Drag is Demonized, the more you're just going to see a bunch of Art Punks expressing freedoms with their body as the canvas. The less it's accepted, the more punk rock and concentrated they will become. You risk making it cool to be cross-dress by making it seen as 'bad', all we can really do is wait it out until it becomes passé.

It originally came to be in the US around the '20s to '30s as a response against the Prohibition Era, they are Counter-Culture until made to become Culture. The US's goal is to be a melting pot, so normalizing is an expected strategy for those who don't apply the Slippery Slope Fallacy to it.

To destroy Drag Culture is to destroy a part of our History that is around 100 years old now, which for a culture as young as the US is a sizable chunk of time.

The only point of these shows is some kind of fetish and attention-seeking, I don't see why they need to do it otherwise.

While we're at it why doesn't the US go back to the '90s mindset and try to demonize anything non-Christian?

We might even get MTV Oddities back, that shit was great, and the backlash might make the culture even more Trans by not letting the idea sleep, remaining woke to it.

It just puts off normal people and demoralizes them, unnecessarily. The simple truth is that it is ugly, so it is unpleasing to look at. If it was beautiful people won't mind it.

With enough time it will normalize, like homosexuality mostly has now.

The reason it's loud is over the belief of a social civil war, and 'the enemy's camo is a clown pattern.

It is the same when gay people kiss, straight people with functional empathy and without desensitization to shock will instantly feel disgusted because they put themselves in the gay couple's place.

Not all of them..?

It's like how not every human is afraid of snakes and spiders. Beyond that people can adjust to the conditions of their environment if they are both young and open-minded enough, in time Drag will lose it's taboo strength and you'll probably just see hints of makeup increase for the Metrosexual community.

Male movie stars already wear it, why not the common people? Do you know how many do shit like Lip Balm?

It is also true for straight people kissing, but that has a far more diminished effect. However, the feeling of ugly disgust is far smaller than the sight of a fetish drag show. I do not favor conformity, because people are selfish, stupid assholes as a group.

Mob Mentality, Groupthink, it goes by many names and tends to highlight the worst things about themselves as their form of Common Ground.

I'm not the one conflating it with child welfare lol, that was the entire point of the bill.

The bill itself I don't find that controversial, but the pearl-clutching satanic panic around it is kinda funny when kids have access to the internet. I doubt the drag queen story time is the most fucked up thing they're seeing.
