Do you feel like you arent as sharp as you once were?

Whether it be the permanent effects of age, the lack of stimulation from graduating from school and observing waning fluency or external factors: do you feel less keen/sharp? Does it bother you in any way?

Personally, after being on night shift recently I noticed much of what I was an expert in has since diminished—though this is temporary.  I have regained my capability for critical thinking since then.  But I still see the expected fading of well-versed knowledge of which I learned in academia. It makes me feel like I wasted some time there. Although normal, it does bother me because I highly value being well-versed in a diverse array of topics.

What about you?

Yeah, I notice this too. I justify it that the information is relevant less now so it has its place. Uni is about learning critical thinking skills anyhow. What did you study at school?

It's a mixed bag for me in that as I get older my mental state shifts. I'm sharper but less focused, more open minded but also more prone to stranger language.

If anything I do things to turn down the sharpness sometimes so that I don't burn out. A lot of lost sharpness can also just be a matter of being out of the habit of it.

I read a fun fact about the brain
And how it starts to deteriorate when
We get to 27 or there abouts
It got me thinking about my head
And what I can do to help stimulate it
Makes me sad, but...
I've forgotten what I'm on about

Title reminded me of that^

I wouldn't say less sharp in terms of brain power, but I've certainly forgotten a lot that I learned in school. Luckily I'm generally able to make up for it with a quick Google search when needed.

Hard to say. I think I’m less creative

Greatly, look at what happens to peoples brains when they their whole life on short media content like tik tok. They begin to use only short term memory and visibly become less intelligent. Its pretty shocking how a deteriorating attention span can alter the brain, especially in terms of being unable to focus long enough to absorb new information

maybe that's why China unleashed tik tok on the West, it's easier to conquer imbeciles

There is some truth to this.  China's algorithm only pushes content that encourages the imitation of dangerous/deadly challenges in the US.  They also only promote content that sexualizes minors in the US.  The algorithm for Europe and the Chinese people is much different and more wholesome.  They know what they are doing.
