alright soo I am getting this thread started and it is going to be a mess I can already tell because I am still struggling to see this illness for what it is
I discovered that there is a name (quite a few different ones actually) for this phenomena that I have observed for my whole life of seeing people say and do one thing, but then their subconsciouses which I have always been an observer to an extent reveal something entirely different, or even just simply "saying one thing and doing another" or "being fake"- and it is known as the wetiko virus and malignant egophrenia among other names
and this is not an attack on narcissism / sociopathy / psychopathy by the way because I am recovering from this wetiko virus myself and I am sharing my consciousness of my blindspots no one has to change and I am not shaming or judging anyone and I have been just as much a victim of the phenomena
alright so here are some of the insights into how this illness affects our minds (speaking about this is making my brain spazz out so bear with me)
Covertly operating through the unconscious blind spots in the human psyche, wetiko renders people oblivious to their own madness, compelling them to act against their own best interests. People under its thrall can, like someone in the throes of an addiction or in a state of trauma, unwittingly create the very problem they are trying to resolve, clinging desperately to the thing that is torturing and destroying them.
People afflicted with wetiko react to their own projections in the world as if they objectively exist and are separate from themselves, delusionally thinking that they have nothing to do with creating that to which they are reacting. (this one has confused me almost more than anything else ever has in this lifetime because a lot of what we are creating seems to be ran by our subconscious unless we choose to become conscious creators)
this virus is at the very root of the collective madness and corresponding evil that we, as a human species, are collectively acting out on the world stage
this virus causes us to become confused about our identities and develop very strong fears of lack and disempowering beliefs about ourselves
the best medicine for this virus is to know and be conscious of who we are, our true selves and true natures, and what we are genuinely capable of as individuals and as a collective
Our true nature, our true identity—who we really are—is impervious to wetiko’s pernicious influence. Wetiko can’t take over, possess or have any effect on our true nature, which is not an object that can be manipulated or possessed by wetiko (or anything else, for that matter). For this reason, wetiko’s strategy is to set up a substitute counterfeit version—a simulation—of ourselves. It then tricks us into identifying with this fraudulent version of ourselves. Wetiko cannot stand it when we identify with our true nature as creative beings, for then it has nothing to sink its roots—and fangs—into.
Wetiko has no creativity on its own, but it’s a master impersonator - we can conceive of it as the ape of the divine. The apocryphal texts call wetiko “the counterfeiting spirit” (the antimimon pneuma). A master mime, wetiko creates a copycat version of us, literally masquerading as ourselves.
to recover we have to identify more and more with our true natures and less with the counterfeit simulation of ourselves wetiko version- soo more information on our true natures is needed at least for me and I will need to confirm and verify that all that I learn about our true natures is legit and is able to be proven to ourselves
the wetiko virus convinces us to believe in a counterfeit fake imposter version of our true selves, and in so doing we begin behaving destructively of ourselves and of the rest of humanity and even the animals and plantlife and earth
Native Americans believe selfishness is a virus that can affect us. They believe it to be a pathogen that forces the victim to feed their incessant need to be selfish, ultimately causing humanity to become its own enemy.
This view is supported in the book called “Dispelling Wetiko” by Carl Jung. He wrote this literary piece to explain the concept of humans getting infected by wetiko. He pointed out that we live in an era where psychosocial phenomena prove the existence of a “virus” of selfishness.
“Wetiko” is a term used by Native Americans to designate an evil person who doesn’t care about the well-being of others or a person who engages in selfish acts despite the cost. The book “Dispelling Wetiko” is not negative or reproachful.
It has merely explained how every virus tends to seek a host to invade and feed off but the immunity system or defensive barriers that we all have might protect us from becoming its prey. It is possible to strengthen our “psychological immune system” to keep ourselves protected from the selfishness virus as well.
I will end up putting this all together into a more concise understanding with a concise remedy but I am still coming to an understanding of all of this myself
