insights into narcissism and the wetiko virus aka Malignant Egophrenia

alright soo I am getting this thread started and it is going to be a mess I can already tell because I am still struggling to see this illness for what it is

I discovered that there is a name  (quite a few different ones actually)  for this phenomena that I have observed for my whole life of seeing people say and do one thing, but then their subconsciouses which I have always been an observer to an extent reveal something entirely different,  or even just simply "saying one thing and doing another" or "being fake"-  and it is known as the wetiko virus and malignant egophrenia among other names

and this is not an attack on narcissism / sociopathy / psychopathy by the way because I am recovering from this wetiko virus myself and I am sharing my consciousness of my blindspots no one has to change and I am not shaming or judging anyone and I have been just as much a victim of the phenomena

alright so here are some of the insights into how this illness affects our minds  (speaking about this is making my brain spazz out so bear with me)

Covertly operating through the unconscious blind spots in the human psyche, wetiko renders people oblivious to their own madness, compelling them to act against their own best interests. People under its thrall can, like someone in the throes of an addiction or in a state of trauma, unwittingly create the very problem they are trying to resolve, clinging desperately to the thing that is torturing and destroying them.

People afflicted with wetiko react to their own projections in the world as if they objectively exist and are separate from themselves, delusionally thinking that they have nothing to do with creating that to which they are reacting.  (this one has confused me almost more than anything else ever has in this lifetime because a lot of what we are creating seems to be ran by our subconscious unless we choose to become conscious creators)
this virus is at the very root of the collective madness and corresponding evil that we, as a human species, are collectively acting out on the world stage

this virus causes us to become confused about our identities and develop very strong fears of lack and disempowering beliefs about ourselves

the best medicine for this virus is to know and be conscious of who we are, our true selves and true natures, and what we are genuinely capable of as individuals and as a collective

Our true nature, our true identity—who we really are—is impervious to wetiko’s pernicious influence. Wetiko can’t take over, possess or have any effect on our true nature, which is not an object that can be manipulated or possessed by wetiko (or anything else, for that matter). For this reason, wetiko’s strategy is to set up a substitute counterfeit version—a simulation—of ourselves. It then tricks us into identifying with this fraudulent version of ourselves. Wetiko cannot stand it when we identify with our true nature as creative beings, for then it has nothing to sink its roots—and fangs—into.

Wetiko has no creativity on its own, but it’s a master impersonator - we can conceive of it as the ape of the divine. The apocryphal texts call wetiko “the counterfeiting spirit” (the antimimon pneuma). A master mime, wetiko creates a copycat version of us, literally masquerading as ourselves.

to recover we have to identify more and more with our true natures and less with the counterfeit simulation of ourselves wetiko version- soo more information on our true natures is needed at least for me and I will need to confirm and verify that all that I learn about our true natures is legit and is able to be proven to ourselves

the wetiko virus convinces us to believe in a counterfeit fake imposter version of our true selves, and in so doing we begin behaving destructively of ourselves and of the rest of humanity and even the animals and plantlife and earth
Native Americans believe selfishness is a virus that can affect us. They believe it to be a pathogen that forces the victim to feed their incessant need to be selfish, ultimately causing humanity to become its own enemy.

This view is supported in the book called “Dispelling Wetiko” by Carl Jung. He wrote this literary piece to explain the concept of humans getting infected by wetiko. He pointed out that we live in an era where psychosocial phenomena prove the existence of a “virus” of selfishness.

“Wetiko” is a term used by Native Americans to designate an evil person who doesn’t care about the well-being of others or a person who engages in selfish acts despite the cost. The book “Dispelling Wetiko” is not negative or reproachful.

It has merely explained how every virus tends to seek a host to invade and feed off but the immunity system or defensive barriers that we all have might protect us from becoming its prey. It is possible to strengthen our “psychological immune system” to keep ourselves protected from the selfishness virus as well.
I will end up putting this all together into a more concise understanding with a concise remedy but I am still coming to an understanding of all of this myself

lol please do not be offended by these but like yeah-  but wetiko "infects / possesses" more than just caucasian people from the pilgrim lineage it "infects / possesses" most of humanity  and this has been going on for a long time possibly since the beginning of humanity

this is an illness rooted in selfishness and fear of lack,  and the illness is not having an ego in itself  it is more that we begin believing fear based and disempowering stuff about ourselves and it starts to take over our psyche and can eventually take over almost completely

the wetiko illness wants to hide from observation and does not want you to see it as a problem,  but if I was infected by a toxic virus I would want to heal it and purge it from my system and it is healthy to think this way  what was unhealthy was for me to try to merge with it and just accept that it was there and let it take over more and I did that until I realized that doing this was making me sicker

This cancer of the soul manages our perceptions by stealth and subterfuge so as to act itself out through us while hiding itself from being seen. Wetiko bedazzles consciousness in such a way that we become blind to the underlying viewpoint through which we are giving meaning to our experience. Wetiko is a form of psychic blindness that fancies itself to be sighted.

Wetiko subversively turns our genius for reality creation against us so that we become bewitched by the projective tendencies of our own mind. People afflicted with wetiko react to their own projections in the world as if they objectively exist and are separate from themselves, delusionally thinking that they have nothing to do with creating that to which they are reacting. Over time this activity of endlessly reacting to and becoming conditioned by one's own energy tends to generate insane behavior, which can manifest internally or in the world at large. As if under a spell, we become entranced by our own intrinsic gifts and talents for dreaming up our world, unknowingly hypnotizing ourselves with our God-given power to creatively call forth reality so that it boomerangs against us, undermining our potential for evolution.

Though the origin of wetiko is within the psyche, at a certain point it develops enough momentum to become self-generating, attaining a seeming autonomy, like the Frankenstein monster. This pathological fragment can subsume the wholesome parts of the psyche into itself such that they become its slaves. As this process continues, wetiko gains sovereignty over the psyche, like the legendary tiger, which, when restored to life out of its bones, devours the magician who resurrected it. It then holds its creator in its thrall, and she is unable to escape from the hell of her own making. The person so afflicted has created her own sci-fi nightmare, with herself in the starring role.

my power animal is a Tiger but in a beneficial way interestingly enough  but yeah anyway the cure to the wetiko virus seems to be becoming conscious creators and understanding our true natures and to stop identifying with our false selves  but I do not even have full discernment on how to stop identifying with my own false self and this will probably take practice  a lot of practice

I suppose a lot of people have Wetiko then. That's a really cool psychological case. What are you doing to fight yours?

Our True Nature
An Excerpt from Dispelling Wetiko

The greatest protection against becoming negatively affected, and in extreme cases possessed by the evil aspects of wetiko, is to be in touch with our intrinsic wholeness, which is to be ‘self-possessed’ – in possession of the part of ourselves that is not possess-able, which is the Self, the wholeness of our being. We truly ‘defeat’ evil when we connect with the part of ourselves that is invulnerable and cannot be vanquished by it. In Buddhism, the wholeness of our true nature is likened to a mirror, which embraces and reflects whatever is put before it. The mirror itself, however, no matter how vile the object it is reflecting, is detached from and never tainted nor stained by its reflections, always remaining the same, retaining its intrinsic purity and never wearing out. The reflections do not affect our mirror-like nature, which is transcendent to the reflections, just like a mirage of water in the desert doesn’t make the grains of sand wet. Fire can’t burn our true nature, earth can’t bury it, water can’t drench it, and the wind can’t blow it away. Pure from the beginning, our true nature is ‘unimpeded,’ in the sense that it cannot be bound by anything. In the same way, when we are in touch with our true nature, the evil of wetiko cannot ‘touch’ us. Paradoxically, while on one hand the reflections seemingly obscure the empty, open surface of the mirror, on the other hand we would never notice the mirror without the reflections, which is to say that the reflections are the revelation of the mirror. The reflections in the mirror are the inseparable, indivisible, unmediated expression of the mirror, as we never have reflections without a mirror, nor a mirror without reflections. The reflections are the expressions of the mirror, indistinguishable from the mirror, while simultaneously, ‘not’ being the mirror.

The reflections in the mirror help us recognize what is not a reflection, i.e., the underlying mirror which embraces, contains, and is fundamentally unaffected by whatever it reflects. In the same way, wetiko potentially introduces us to the part of us that is wetiko-free. Without a break in its symmetry, the true nature of Being would have no way to encounter and become aware of itself. This is similar to light transforming aspects of itself into particles so as to reveal its potential in a new way. It is only after we have become engaged with wetiko that we potentially become aware of the part of us that is invulnerable to its effects. Previous to wetiko’s bursting on the scene, we were unconsciously identified with our true nature, which is to say that we were not conscious of it. It is as if a deeper part of ourselves dreamed up wetiko so as to make us conscious of the part of ourselves that is transcendent to it. Wetiko itself becomes the very instrument through which our intrinsic wholeness is consciously realized in time─the present moment─the only ‘place’ it can be realized. Similar to how a shadow is simultaneously an expression of the presence of light as well as its absence, wetiko, though apparently obscuring our true nature, is a disguised form, expression of, and introduction to it. Wetiko is then recognized to not only be a manifestation of our true nature, but actually evokes it. Once again we are at that mysterious place where the opposites become indistinguishable – is wetiko a disease of the soul that is getting in the way of us fully realizing who we are, or is it an initiation into the very true nature that it is apparently obscuring?

even if it is-  it is still painful and confusing and scary to be lost in it but yeah  I would like to be a lot more connected to my true nature soon,  and I bet that my true self is lovely and I am excited to embody more of her
