The 14th this year is on a Tuesday, so Alice and I celebrated our Valentine's day yesterday. It was the loveliest, most romantic day of my life ♡
Alice arrange everything and it was all a surprise to me. She's so thoughtful, everything was perfect.
On Friday night, she bought me a dozen beautiful, pastel pink roses.
On Saturday, to start the day she took me to my favorite restaurant for brunch. We had strawberry pancakes with tutti frutti whipped cream, kimchi, and mimosas, along with other unique brunch dishes they offer.
Alice then brought me to the heart of DC and lead me down the sidewalk to the US Botanical Garden Conservatory. 🌿🌺🌵 This was an amazing, thoughtful surprise. I loved every minute as we explored the different climates and touched as many plants as possible lol. We got to see some beautiful and interesting plants. Some of the ferns in the tropical climate room were gigantic!
After the USBG Conservatory there was a small hiccup as we struggled to find parking near our final destination. Apparently most DC parking garages are not open overnight on weekends anymore for some reason? But Google maps still said they are open 24 hours so we would find a garage on the map, go to it, then see signs that they lock the gate at 10/11pm etc. Repeat 3 times, it took 3 hours to find parking 💀
But all was well, we still had just enough time and phone battery left to uber to the main event:
Alice reserved us a chef's tasting menu for two at Seven Reasons DC, a boujee af Latin American restaurant. We had what was the best meal both of us have ever eaten in our entire lives. Eleven courses of culinary perfection 😚🤌
- A crisp hollow shell filled with goat cheese and topped with grated black truffle, and a glass of pumpkin squash soup with a drizzle of habanero sauce
- Bluefin Tuna tostadas with a heavy dusting of powdered cilantro
- A deconstructed beet salad with asparagus and a large shell crisp
- Hollowed crostini filled with smoked deviled ham, topped with grated black truffle and guava reduction
- Sweetcorn pancake with housemade butter and caviar
- A single bite of the most tender, flavorful, perfectly cooked lamb in the world. Marinated in buttermilk and topped with a traditional Argentinian cilantro sauce
- Octopus with oyster mushroom, peas, half of a baby potato marinated in maplesyrup, and drizzled with aus ju
- Suuuper tender Venison shank, with mashed smoked potatos
- Coconut sorbet
- Pumpkin ice cream over creamed goat cheese, dehydrated raspberries, topped with dulce de Leche custard
- Petite fours, consisting of a shortbread cookie with dulce de Leche cream, a chocolate truffle, and a raspberry marshmallow.
Alice had a burbon and they served it by setting some shredded wood on fire and filling the glass with smoke. I had a beet and thyme cocktail with smoke whipped into an eggwhite meringue on top.
The experience was 10/10. Every bite was perfection. I think I transcended space and time when I tasted that lamb. The service was fantastic. They treated us like the most important guests of the evening (not that I think we were, I just mean the service was next level beyond what I've ever experienced) At the end of the meal we received a copy of the menu, autographed by the head chef.
After huddling next to a power outlet in the back of a cvs for a few minutes, we had *exactly* enough phone battery to hail an uber back to the car. My phone died as the uber was stopped at the red light across the street, and we luckily got their attention by waving them down.
When we got home we finished off the night with some bong rips, then walked around our house super high realizing how messy we are. We went to bed cuddling, whisping to each other aspirations of cleaning the house the next day (which we did.)
This was the perfect Valentine's day. Alice is the love of my life, and I feel so thankful every day that I get to be with her.
I love you so so much baby 💘 🥰😚
