Apparently the core of the earth stopped moving

As a result 20k people died in earth quakes in Syria and turkey within the last 2 days. There are horror and catastrophy movies about this scenario. No one really knows what the implications of it are. It supposedly can happen every 70 years, gut this is the first time we have modern technology that kind of relies or works within a known magnetic field and electrostatical principles of the Earth's gravitational field. No one knows what will happen or if it really happened but there are strong indicators that it is happening right now. Nothing could happen or civilization as we know it could end. If we don't see each other again I am really not a bad guy and kind of normal in real life and don't hold a grudge towards any of you. In real life I could mirror any one you and we would become great friends

This is probably the worst thing I ever seen in my life. This doesn't even showcase the damage.

The quake was felt in Romania too from what I gathered.

if CS and Jim were still in Turkey, that they could've been crushed.

Hehe.

Yes. I'm actually seeing catastrophe theories (only somewhat plausible ones, not very scary, imo) where the entire alignment of the earth flips anywhere from 9* to 15* on its axis, and we have another planet wide extinction event. According to the gloom and doom 'prophets' the catastrophe will be unavoidable, except for people who can get to a space station for however many months or years.

Ofc, the gloom and doom prophets I've seen are basing their theorizing on a one day lava rotation change. These things usually take thousands of years.

Can't remember if the earth's core has started spinning in the other direction, yet.

Haven't finished watching this yet, so I'm not sure if it's helpful or just vaguely entertaining.

It says that there will be a Big One on the west coast of North America soon, as well.

This much I do believe.

I suspect it will happen in the next 5 years.

I don't think it will be quite as awful as the creators of the vid are saying, but it will be at least as bad as the Big SF quake in 1905.

That was a 9 on the Richter Scale, btw.

I hope one of those buildings fell on Jim's head lol

Oopsie. Started watching my vid and I'm seeing some helpful facts.

So the big SF earthquake was in 1906, not 1905.

And I googled the magnitude, so I don't get accused of just talking out my ass  :P

So I remembered those facts incorrectly due to my source material being a fictional novel that I read decades ago.

I believe it was called Gold Mountain (?) the story of a young Chinese boy who came to SF at the turn of the 20thc to start a new life when his family were persecuted at home. I found it very enjoyable, if anybody cares. It was YA fiction, so you might not.

The magnitude of that quake was only 7.9.

Just a little stronger than what happened in the Mediterranean Monday.

And yeah, the affected area was the size of the state of Ohio, or all of Bulgaria.

By "affected" I mean destroyed.

They felt the aftershocks all the way in Romania, like Tony said.

Jim moved back to Romania last year I think.

I can't imagine the horror. Massive earthquake and the place gets leveled and those who survived are left in the freezing cold with no food, countless injuries with not enough medical service.

Missing people, and people sure their loved ones are dead as the death toll rises, they are pulling bodies both dead and alive.

I wouldn't wish that for anyone.

@ Spats: no I wouldn't wish that on most people.

Jim is an exception.

I saw some footage of the Ruzzian army in Syria claiming that they wanted to help.

Bullshit. They're only there to loot the broken buildings.

The person holding the camera was an effing genius. Caught a d bag Ruzzian soldier smiling from a perfect angle beside a torn out wall where there was a shiny, nearly new washing machine.

And a meme was born.

I would wish a death by falling appliances on that Ruzzian turd as well.

The news about the core's motion came on 23 Jan.
