I've seen cry-baby and enjoyed it, never seen anything else produced by John Waters. So I should change that?
Do your parents enjoy films like this or does this fall into the "they view some of my choices as strange" category?
Polyester and Pink Flamingoes are the classics, the former quite strange with less crudeness while the latter's the film that set Divine on the map.
My folks had the scratch and sniff cards for Polyester, which were all gross smells. John Waters definitely has a sense of vision, a strange, funhouse mirrored sense of vision, and while I would not pair him with the likes of Lynch when it comes to high art, his low art is somehow high art within it's own category.

They were what gave me a major ahead start on pre-90s media, while I showed them the quality things from newer stuff.
They're also how I found fun stuff like Beanie and Cecil, alongside some other sources of cartoon beatnik humor. They also were how I got an early start on the wonders of Public Access Television, before I could just get that from Youtube. They otherwise are how I've seen movies like Eraserhead, Five Easy Pieces, King of Comedy, Network, Frankenweenie (1984), were avid Rocky Horror fans, pretty much anything Alfred Hitchcock... they know their media.
They've had a lot of influences on my tastes, which now are kind of strange.
Ended up watching Running on Empty (1988) instead, really good movie.
Got some fudge cake, some new hard bottom slippers, a bottle of Maker's Mark, and BT sent me Trombone Hero over Steam. It was a pretty laid back day where the only thing really wrong with it was my mentality.

What was wrong with your mentality? :(

They don't make trailers like these anymore.

The sad birthday gifs didn't give an impression?
