I would like to hear what your husband thinks about this and what will he be doing for your birthday.

Understanding each others expectations is very important. Don't you agree? She went nuts on his birthday (in a good way) and maybe he's more chill. If my gf did all this I would be like whoa. It's great and all, but,but,but... don't expect me to reciprocate, at least not to that level.

The thing about a gift is it's a gift. Gifts are free. There is nothing you have to do in exchange or it's not a gift anymore. Everything that I did was a gift.

They do have a way of setting a precedent for most people, like they have to live up to where the bar was set.

Br has done nice things for my birthday, he simply asks me what I want and if it is within reason what I tell him, we typically do it. It usually consists of a romantic dinner at a Thai restaurant, a gift from the thrift store, flowers that have been picked, and a trip to the park, and a candle stuck in a nice food item for me to blow out  I very much like the same exact thing every single year. In other words, he likes surprises but I do not. Sometimes we also rent a movie if we have time. Or maybe that year I feel like ordering a pizza. I typically plan my own birthdays
