For the same reason I follow Jim Carrey and some other celebrities (even Trump pre-presidency). Unless called out on it down the line if they push an envelope too far, they are able to have wildly expressive displays of Abnormal Psychology, even down to needing Handlers as a specialized job, over the wealth they have. In many cases this power and comfort paves the way for it to become louder, and their environment ends up so insulated from this that they struggle to face correction. It allows us to see where it'd advance if society or whatever else in a normal person's setting never got in the way, they're prime data and they give it out for free.

He shows a strange relationship with identity through imitation even in his earliest interviews and he thinks every film he's given to act in is given to him by the universe to teach him some kind of lesson.
He tries to argue how woke he is through the rhetoric, but his emotions betray how he is not there. He has looked into a lot during his time taking a liquid drug by himself (and with Jerry Seinfeldn during an interview) that I suspect had LSD-like properties, the guy's trying to have an ego death so that he can truly believe "There is no Jim Carrey", but he can't let go.
He hates that, when there's an audience, that he feels like h has to become who he feels like they want him to be, hates it enough to tell himself the people want Jim and that Jim isn't real.I wonder what kind of drugs he has done to become like this. It cannot be just LSD.

Jim Carrey has an identity disorder of some kind, it's why his time during Man on the Moon set him onto a really weird existential path that's slowly breaking him down overtime. There is also a mood disorder of some kind going on, his early work in In Living Color was symptomatic of Mania in ways similar to Amanda Bynes before she burnt the fuck out.
He is a troubled person, and the fact that people are only noticing once he walks onto a red carpet floor to go on about "Icons" says more about society than Jim Carrey. I had a very early start with viewing his work and I always presumed something was wrong with him, he tried too hard and how well he did in some gags, like his rewind joke in Ace Ventura, shows he's insanely neurotic.
