Would operant conditioning work on med?

Operant conditioning is learning through perceived consequences. Animals and humans learn mostly from operant conditioning. If the perceived result of an action is positive, the action is more likely to be repeated in the future. Likewise, if the results of an action are negative, the action is less likely to be repeated in the future. There are other ways of learning, but they are irrelevant for this thread. The principles of operant conditioning are used in psychotherapy and also when it comes to training animals. For example, there are collars for dogs where the owner can give them electroshocks or can spray citrus water on their snouts to cause irritation when they misbehaved. Through these aversive experiences the dog learns not to behave in a way it should not. Do you guys think a collar like that would help or work on Med? If she would be electroshocked every time she mentions Chapo...? Or if there would be a smelling fluid sprayed in her face? Would that be a way out?

Her financial situation holds back any hope of progress, and even there I don't see her learning the right lessons.

She'd probably starve to death without their help.

There are studies on schizophrenic people where the caretakers were instructed to yawn demonstratively everytime they said something psychotic as if it was very boring. As a result patients that were confronted with these reactions displayed less delusion and psychotic behaviors than the control group.

But that says nothing about the fact they are just repressing it or not, and actually having less delusions or psychosis (only not exhibiting behaviors).

Or they built a conspiracy in their heads about officials when they yawn...

Schizophrenics in general put two-and-two together weirdly loosely, just check on The Open Scroll for examples. Even for myself when more deep end I thought people were making rooms messy on purpose to watch my reactions, the ideas do not have to be rooted in reality to be believed, and a yawn can mean way more things for someone losing their mind.

Just try yawning at someone like this, see what happens:

It's very much a case by case basis, and them keeping their mouths shut does not show sanity.

Maybe there would still be benefit? Like better interactional experiences such as less interpersonal negative feedback etc.

Med could benefit from this, actually. Imagine every time she mentions Chapo around someone, they let out a major fart - stinking up the room. Inevitably, this will make her associate her obsession with the putrid smell of farts, as well as the disheartening realisation of his inherent stinkiness as a person.

Now whether she learns to (dis)like ass rumbles as a result is to be seen, but regardless of the outcome - It's a win-win.
