Has anyone heard of the brand Mutt before. saw them in spain and fancy their style but have no clue if theyre good engines. Pretty affordable too
That type of bike is called a "Cafe Racer", though I never seen that one. I never heard of them until now, they are British.
The engine looks similar to mine, so I'm going to guess it's a 4 stroke twin cylinder ( It's single cylinder ), I can see the carburetor, there would be 2 of them. 1 of them, but upon further inquiry it's said to be fuel injected.
In the image it's written 125cc, so it's not a very fast or powerful bike. It is entry level for sure. If you get it, DO NOT try another bike. When it comes to motorcycles, if you ride anything more powerful, you'll legit becomes instantly addicted to the more powerful bike and when you go back to your softer engine you'll long for something better. I have a 500cc and I tried a 250cc and to me it felt like something that couldn't move while the kid who bike swapped with me was having an orgasam of a time with my bike.
Despite the above paragraph, I don't see anything wrong with that bike so far. If it is what it claims to be, and if it's decent quality, it will be very affordable and easy to live with. Cheap on gas with nice range. Probably easy to bomb start if the battery is having a difficult time turning the starter. Easy to clean, just blast it with a hose, keep the pipes dry or else it'll rust over time.
That bike seems to have a single break disc in the front and notice it is larger than the rear brake disc. That is because you can expect 80% of your braking power for a bike is in the front
They made the bike stand somehow for that shot ( Kinda looks like a well painted model ) it is not leaning on a kickstand which would be hidden on the other side. That bike does however have a center stand. Center stands are a second option of standing the bike. The center stand keeps the bike upright and suspends the rear wheel. The center stand will come in handy when you're lubricating the chain. You'll want the bike in neutral and turn the rear wheel by hand as you spray or whatever method you use the lubricate the chain.
Watching some youtube videos of the Mastiff 125cc, it's a big bike with a small engine. If you like that look, then you're into Cafe Racers. You look the part.
Just looking up cafe racers has opened me up to a whole slew of different brands. I had no idea that was a style still produced by so many companies. I might attain for something more powerful just bc i dont want to be too limited by speed or by the weight of the bike. Theres nothing more annoying than wanting more acceleration and HP out of an engine and not being able to get it. Ima try to find something at 125cc but with a little more power. Maybe i have to get a 250cc for that idk
You're in the states and enjoy cheaper motorcycle insurance. If you can find an affordable 500cc or 600cc I'd recommend getting that, if not then 250 is fine as a starter bike. As long as it doesn't have a sport bike engine.
Beware of getting into motorcycles, you'll forever be in love with them and you WILL remember the first time you finally take your bike on the road, you'll remember what you did and where you went etc. You'll feel insanely free, and they are dangerous.
I cant tell if youre trying to warn me or convince me to get one, KEK. But yes im well aware of the implications
I dont want a crotchrocket though bc theyre dangerous ao ill stick with 250cc max for learning.
Wise choice.
I used to ride with sport bikers, I was acquainted with countless riders. Each and every last one of them has been in at least 1 accident. Personally I have 2 accidents, the 2nd one I was so lucky the bike and I ended up in some soft mud and there was slight hairline damage on the bike.
My Goddaughter wanted to get a ZX6R. I said kid, in Ontario at your age the insurance will cost as much as the bike itself, maybe more. 2ndly the Bike will spit you off. We legit cannot breath when bikes like that accelerate it sucks air out the helmet, it's amazing how they are even street legal.
Another thing I told her about, is how I was reading a post about Motorcycle insurance in Ontario ( Cause it's STUPID HIGH HERE ) and some guy that worked for an insurance company came on and said something along the lines of "Don't get a bike, it's stupid, it's a daily horror show".
Not trying to deter you from riding, it's just that kid is hyperactive and shouldn't ride a motorcycle. She says she doesn't want one now, but.... she probably doesn't want to hear me cause I have a 500cc Ninja chilling in the parking garage and she can't have it.
