If you are referring to school shooting I am not a physically violent person and I never have been,  and also shooting a very small population of people really does nothing to fix the worldwide problem of physical and psychological abuse and mistreatment of the more vulnerable and usually also more innocent sweet and more benevolent and better hearted of our population  (bullying)

It does send a message to bullies that their snack with the thick rimmed glasses could come back one day with a semi-automatic and some home-made explosives.

this is not enough to stop the bullying,  it is just not  and also those people end up either killing themselves or in prison-  it is not the solution

this is not enough to stop the bulling,  it is just not

No one broad gesture will stop bullying, but a series of ideas will serve as harm reduction until it's no longer smart to do it. 

You do have to admit that the idea that the meekling who practically bullies himself coming back with a weapon is much scarier than otherwise, and school shootings began trending after Dylan Klebold make it seem like a righteous act (poor dude, he had such a rough life). 

tbh if I was a bully of the more vulnerable of our population,  I would be more scared of the more intelligent ones either poisoning me unbeknownst to myself or anyone else except for the person who did it or creating a virus that would take me out............

Also creating a virus is pretty sci-fi, it's not like some poindexter will just go to their underground lab and concoct plagues to destroy you.

Until they begin 3D printing them out of other materials before hiding the bullet in a rabbit's foot charm, that shit's already in movies. They could even do it off school grounds, like on the bus or something. 

The metal detectors though serve as a reminder that school shooters exist, which interestingly works as a passive deterrent against bullying.
