Just go to your Account page and change the theme to default if you want it brighter.

You usually won't find the same freedoms without it though, the same thing that has you not banned here is what protects others as well. 

I think if I and bt were to lead it, people would generally be in happier more positive and calm mind states though,  instead when you have a forum owner who behaves like "Good" the owner of this forum  (in very negative and hateful ways),   obviously the tone that he sets for the forum is going to have an influence on the content contributed

this being said,  one problem that bt and I would probably have is attracting too many members  that would take a lot of work to upkeep and moderation  oh yeah that is another point,  even this forum has moderators to keep the illegal stuff off of the forum and prevent it from being shut down

Yeah, this forum is in mood and content a function of its members, which is modulated by its terms/conditions and the "culture" it promotes.  It would be different, of course, under different management and with different intent.

What would a forum be like were we in charge?  How popular would it be?  I think that depends on a lot of things to make conjecture very certain.  The largest factor would be the intent and guidelines for its inception.  If it's about something else than this forum, something more positive and filters out whatever toxicity that comes from less hands-on involvement (i.e. constraints for content and its enforcement), then, well, that'll evidence itself in how popular that is, how it's maintained.

(Hell, just doing more promotion would help beat this forum, probably.  Most, if any, newbies are happenstantial, at best.  So much so, that anyone "new" is often assumed to just be a puppet of someone already a member.)

I personally am averse to the stress of having to oversee people and police them.  Moderating seems like it would lead to being a drag.  I've always been more comfortable about trying to behave in the manner I want to promote, responsible for myself.  Would I try and do a good job if in that role though?  Yes.
