I want to transcend my ego in this lifetime

I think that I chose this lifetime,  if we choose our lifetimes,  to learn how to transcend my ego  pretty sure about this  I have been battling with my ego  (and my extremely judgmental harsh inner critic)  my whole life and I think that in this lifetime I am supposed to transcend my ego  If you think about it I gravitate towards people who trigger my ego and I think that this is why,  so that I will get sick of and bored of my ego in this lifetime and transcend it

I am desiring to be polar opposites to people who live from their ego like Sam Hyde and my ex Phill and Michael and his friends,  and I think that is why I gravitate towards them to work through all of my egoic attachments

As a beginning to this line of thinking, consider the following:

To want is itself a part of the ego, and desiring it be quicker rather than as long as it must take is yet further impatience of the ego.

you are far from transcended so I am not going to really trust your advice on anything relating to this but thank you for the input,  nice try  *patpat*

Hey now, don't start with this again.  Perhaps it's something TC read or experienced.  People can have wisdom and insight while still struggling with or not entirely encapsulating a concept.  You don't have to agree, but you also don't have to be dismissive or denigrating.

I'm not saying TC is right or wrong about it, just that if you're looking for advice from some exemplar of any sort for anything, you're not going to get it.  I don't see any Dalai Lamas around.  You catch my drift?

It's not even technically my advice, it's from the concepts themselves.

At best I'm borrowing it.

Of course, Alan Watts is a great source to read and listen to about this.  A couple others you might find useful: Ram Dass and Eckhart Tolle.  (Both have videos and audio and other stuff to check out.)  There are others, but it would probably turn more Buddhist-centric material, whereas this is more about ego stuff specifically (though Buddhism tends to work with that).
