I want to study literature I think

I used to want to study psychology,  but now I think that I would rather study literature  I do not know what careers would include studying and researching literature  I think that I would like to study textual exegesis if that is possible but nonrelated to the bible ?

I am not that great at textual exegesis but I am interested in learning how to master it at least

I guess it depends on what is meant by "literature", but I think you mean other than legal or scientific literature (although, that still an option under that category).  I think one would end up needing to specialize: by genre or historical period or something.  Likely, you'd need to start out in a related field to basically "pay the bills" -- like editing or proofreading or even work in a library or something -- and then gain experience and skill with the specific field you want to get into.

He was asking what genre you'd want to start with before saying a practical use for it though.

What kind of literature?

Since you mentioned research, I feel a lot of folks like the idea of doing research, but don't actually enjoy the scientific process or the everyday life of a researcher. Most of these people tend to lack the intrinsic motivation needed to get to anywhere meaningful. Those who genuinely enjoy literature tend to pick a book and start reading it. Therefore, my suggestion is to try to pick a book and start reading it, and figure out what you like as you go along. If you like it enough, the rest comes naturally. And if it doesn't, despite you being dedicated enough to spend at least half a year on it, I can help you.
