A lot of people who grew up with some parental of family aspect lacking in their childhood or young adult life, end up dating people or attracted to people subconsciously because they want to date their *family* or want to be a part of *family*
I've noticed that happening somewhat. I could be wrong but, just an observation. Subconsciously you might not be attracted to the person as much as you are, their life. And you desire an aspect of that persons life or their personality to make your life feel more complete, having basic human (mostly emotional) needs met.
We all do it, it's normal and part of our own growth and healing process. Believe it or not, in my opinion, relationships sometimes seem to be a part of learning or growing as an individual and we engage in them almost, to propel ourselves forward or it's a really complex way of doing shadow work in a way. They can bring to light things we did not know were there inside to be addressed, that will ultimately make us healthier if we do.
It's really interesting.
