Boredom

I'm bored as shit. In like a cosmic, ennui sense.

I really enjoyed the early days of COVID coz at least it was interesting, but now that things are back to normal I find myself wanting the next crisis to come along.

It's even making me consider going back into a combat role. Am I just wired wrong? I wish I wanted a quiet, peaceful life but for some reason it just makes me start to unravel.

Not sure if this is relatable but felt like venting.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

You just need to find some way to enterprise on this boredom, like fetishizing it.

What did The Buddha do when he had money, bitches, and fame as a prince? He let out a big sigh, for he had all that he could desire, and he went and sat under a tree meditating on his misery. Thus, he finally found what he was looking for and devoted his life to it. I'm reminded of business tycoons from the 20s out in the Savanna with elephant guns, and Bezos going to space. The hedonic treadmill. You need something to get involved in.

Didn't Buddha effectively run away from his family and responsibilities?

Also just tried MultiVersus, it's free and not half-bad for that price.

Can't really think of many other scenarios where you can have LeBron James dunk on Arya Stark.

What lemons? And how do you fetishize boredom?

Yeah, I relate to this. Not that I'm Bezos or a tycoon, but I guess I have maxed out my desire for the material.

I think what I want I ultimately want is to be Luke Skywalker or Harry Potter. To have some kind of call to adventure and subsequent legacy. Probably not achievable, but maybe worth aiming for.

What lemons?

Lemon means both the fruit and an unsatisfactory person/thing, so the expression plays with that.

You could always trade the lemons for limes and make limeade though I guess.

And how do you fetishize boredom?

Spend a lot of time focusing on it and indulging in how much it sucks. Past a point you have the room to begin identifying with the pain.

Right. If ennui is a lemon, I fail to see how it can be juiced.

 That seems counterproductive.

Write poetry?

Short of fixing the boredom in more conventional ways, it's better than just being bored.

Is that what you do with your existential dread? I'm not a good writer. Lots of ideas, terrible execution.
