In this case, to take a half-measure with being good. 

Think of it like a coffee or tea metaphor, people like iced coffee/tea and they like hot coffee/tea, but they do not want their coffee or tea to be room temperature. Both forms of coffee or tea in this case are good forms, while evil coffee or tea would be coffee or tea that tastes like shit. 

The point is that those who are on the path to God are to not take half-measures, not that evil must be more evil for Jesus to respect them. Literal insanity that claim, and again, I dare you to ask Christians this question too.
