anyway i guess he's not dead? but still, there's a lesson here isn't there

She was probably under the impression that giving money would lead to meeting up with him. Even during the whole episode and ER debacle, Med was continually inserting how she couldn't wait for next week and shit.
I don't think she intended for this. But certainly she would see her sympathies and capacity to comfort in the wake of this incident as a plus for her, regardless of the fact she may have somehow been complicit in its actual occurrence. XD
In other words, watch how she rationalizes and makes her narrative. She'll either deny or focus on something else.
