It's a known fact that, as I said "the best" comedy has the element of truth. No need to play victim or whatever silliness has you questioning the claim.

So yes, you only think it's funny if you have room to agree with the joke. 

That's a real shame, some humor can only be enjoyed from adopting a false premise, such as the idea that Left wing memes are political propaganda pushing hatred for white people while embracing degeneracy. If I could not perspective take people outside of my own frame of understanding I'd be missing out on a ton of jokes, even if just over the room for appreciating the structure or absurdity.

One might argue that the left provides the raw material and the right just effectively uses it. And of course Donald Trump was just a meme machine. It's really no contest as to which side's memes were funnier, but there's a reason behind this:

The funniest right wing memes weren't necessarily made as a political "gotcha". Much of it was people legitimately laughing at and making jokes about stuff and just having fun. Whereas oftentimes the left wing memes are made with this earnest agenda to "own" the other side and there's no soul or playful spirit behind it.

I've seen a lot of the same 'gotcha' out of both sides honestly, especially from the right when they are aiming to try to call the left hypocrites. The left by contrast tends to not see the right as hypocritical from not presuming they think as they do, while the right tends to think there's some sense of suppression through shame the left have been conditioned to feel that's accounting for their behavior.
