So what you are really saying is that Americans don't need xanax, they need reform?

You can't reform 300 years of culture with some tepid piece of legislation like "universal background checks". That's pissing on a fire.

I don't know wtf America needs and I don't think they'll figure it out anytime soon, so I'm recommending Xanax.

My theory, for the little its worth, is that your "democracy" has drifted so far away from being liberal or representative that people have reached peak disenfranchisement. In the UK, we set off a flare or punch a wall or something. I don't think most people feel so alienated from society that they feel the need to resort to mass violence to send a message, we have other avenues and social safety nets.
