 Oh I didn’t mean to ghost I just had a busy day, was preparing for a trip ironically. Already have plans to head north but uh, not the same state but it’s for work

When I went to Mexico it was pretty eye opening just being dead honest here 

ive always done volunteer work growing up, but the volunteer work in Mexico was, wow. 

it brings tears to my eyes. It is the reason I chose to go into bio, I wanted to be able to help people better with the proper education, and also be able to join certain boards and organizations involvements etc that were for those causes that I believe were most desperate at that time in foreign nations 

the provision of medical care (equal standard of care) globally but especially in the 3rd world is still something I’m passionate about today.

my ultimate dream would be to contribute in some way to a project which involves building hospitals and clinics and staffing them in areas which do not have any currently and have no physicians. Yes, none.

So like, if you have a heart attack in a certain place in Mexico, the nearest hospital may be 4 hours away. You will not survive. It’s simply unfair. It’s just not right. You know?

it’s also why I began to research telemedicine, and during my time in university I presented about telemedicine at a few conferences and things like that. This was before 2020 when no one cared about telemedicine. And I was trying to get people to like, develop it more essentially and think just raise awareness to the issue and the laws etc. i was studying under the physician who was the head of the organization that was lobbying for changes to the telemedicine act, this was before it’s as passed. I was shadowing him at his clinic one day when he got the phone call it was passed. I felt like oh we should celebrate you know, with the group of physicians that evening but. That is the extremely humble and quiet life of a physician, after the act was passed no one gave him a high five or a congratulations for the months of work he did with his organization- they had no time to celebrate, they just continued working. There was no recognition and there never will be, no one will know his name. No one knows the names of those who got the act passed. An act that changed the world… (in fact I think if I told him congratulations he would of thought it was weird or it would of been uncomfortable, because he responded so strangely to any form of accolades or thanks. He ran many organizations that had a community impact. I was very fortunate to work under such an amazing guy).

there is an unreported world which goes on suffering, and we think oh there is nothing we can do. But when you see it up close and personal and you’re feeding these people with your own two hands you’re looking these children in the eyes, they’re barefoot, etc. you kind of just have this notion of, “how dare you think that.” 

how dare you not do something. How dare you put to waste your opportunities back in the free country you came from. Education. Anything. You could do anything. 

and you chose nothing

it was really eye opening for sure. Just being honest like, I had never really thought about it, I thought about things that were within like, my scope at that time (teen years) so… it was just what I understood. 

but yeah when you go elsewhere it’s yeah, a whole different level of, need

but yeah, it was like. One day I was just driving through the city just a normal day- my bf finished his classes at university for the day and we were just driving to the park- which costs money to get in. 

it’s a very well maintained park. 

and we are driving along the outskirts of the park and I was looking at it from the window of my passenger seat in the car and I asked my boyfriend randomly like 

“why does it cost money to get into the park?” 

and he said, “to keep out the homeless.” 

and I said, “why don’t they use the money to help them?” 

and he said, “because, in Mexico there are laws against helping them. We do not have homeless shelters here. So there is no where to put it. We don’t believe in helping homeless people here.” 

and I didn’t know this. So I was like wha?????? No homeless shelters.??!! 

yes homeless shelters are illegal. 

 I was 18 at the time 

I got something in my mail about a group called “the well.” And I liked that it was a group for English speaking people living in Mexico so I attended, it was across the street from the university where I always was anyways so it worked out. 

and we ended up building wells and things like that. I was also like looking for things to do and ended up just meeting with the owner of an animal shelter there, and she said she needed help, so I said yes. I thought, because my understanding of Spanish is not good- she meant help with the surgical prepping and things like that we were doing like veterinary work 

but then I show up and she’s like let’s go, we are getting in this van. And we spent many hours locating or searching for animals that were stray, abandoned, or even tied to trees and left to starve (yes they do that there in Mexico) and basically just saving animals all day long. And then I would go around and ask people if they wanted the animal. And too care of them in the shop of course while they did not yet have an owner. 

 I also took care of two homeless children there, to make sure they ate something. It wasn’t deliberate they were just hungry and noticed I had the ability to give and so they figured out my walking patterns in the morning and the evenings and followed me. They lived in cardboard boxes. 

I donated a lot to anyone I saw on the street, I mean every single time. I never passed by and let someone go unnoticed. I purposefully gave enough money for a family dinner not one person meal, because I knew that’s usually what they were out there looking fir

Also Tryp can confirm I do volunteer work lol, when he came to visit me I made him come do it with me 

I have participated in a lot of local organizations basically where ever I am living at the time but. Ultimately my goal would be to do something of a larger impact one day. Like I would be really fucking over the moon if I could do something like I mentioned earlier like, helping to build clinics and things.

I dunno why but that’s just one of things I’ve never been able to get off my mind.
