Talking to a recruiter about joining the army?

I don't know if I really have what it takes to be a soldier,

But,

They have really good benefits for my brother and they can cover my school

I'm already numb anyway, so it is what it is either way

But I can't help but feel the recruiter is a little to eager to please and I need to double check some things

be sure to mention your innate interest in MLP songs. Also, join the marines instead to eat crayons for free.

 😂

I think I'll leave out that part

Also I lived on bases half my life, and I worked at the commissary on a marine base, and the Marines seem to be really really hardcore if not more than the army

Army or Air force would be the way to go, however I personally would recommend you don't unless you truly have no other options. I almost went into the marines and I am personally glad I didn't. The military talks of benefits, but then I've seen multiple people used and discard like trash. Recruiters are lying fucks, mine lied to me and cockblocked me from getting a scholarship to enter NROTC for benefits and to become an officer. Don't trust what your recruiter tells you, and make sure you do a lot of your own research. Overall, I would advise not entering but its your choice.

I decided not to, they will not let me observe shabbat. They offered me Sundays. That's it. Fuck that unfairness I'll offer service elsewhere. I said I would do Saturdays if there are emergencies such as deployment for example, but they said no, you only get religious exceptions made if it's a Sunday. I will not be treated like trash I'll find something else. I would have taken it to the death, but oh well.

You would die for an oil company that pays you less than minimum wage?

Well I wanted to do national guard so I probably wouldn't have to do wars I don't agree with, but I instead help with things in the states, like another 9/11, or when Hawaii has lava problems and that is inevitable. Also I can't move to another state I have to help my brother so I have to be here. Maybe deployment for a while is fine, they have people when you are deployed help care for disabled family members, so I can work with that, but I can't move.

You'd have to talk to people who might not be so friendly.

I was in the military for 10+ years and strongly recommend you exhaust all other options.

Some people get out of the cycle of poverty and flipping burgers, but 90% just go back to it after they get spat out, only now with exotic trauma lmao

Personally, I feel like I made a Faustian bargain. Did get some socioeconomic mobility out of it, but at a pretty extreme cost. If I had to choose again, I probably would have kept flipping burgers.
