I know you know where to get the best curry chicken in the GTA   xD

Do you know where I can get the best price, too?

Well since the pandemic I can't say I've been out for curry dishes for quite awhile.

I know 2 places that are really good.

https://www.therotihut.com/

351 Pitfield road in Scarborough.

This one is about 39 years old.

I remember when it was just a tiny crack in the wall. Or half of the end unit. Place would have crazy line ups some days. Then they got the full unit, then they ended up buying the unit next to it to meet their demand. That alone speaks for itself.

Curry Chicken on their menu is $12. Being a Caribbean man raised on food like this, I'd say this place freakin awesome. West Indian curry. Not East. Big difference. If you're hungry and you walk in here, you'll get eager and feel even more hungry just from the aroma. If you dig for reviews you'll see positive feedback. It's true.

The other place

- Tropical Joe's

1000 Gerrard Square.

There's another one at Steels and McCowan in the mall there. ( Rotihut is just off McCowan too but closer to Scarborough Town Centre.

Unlike Rotihut,  I wouldn't go out of my way for this one, but. When I lived in the Riverdale area, I'd go there and it's the only one I've been to. They have a few franchises. This place also works out of food courts in shopping malls, but do not be deceived by that. In the heat of the moment, I really enjoyed the roti and felt saddened when I was done. I even questioned if it's better than my Mother's roti which is the literal best I and others ever had. That's a bold statement but I'm serious. ( This goes for Rotihut too )

Hey, writing about these places made me happy. Without looking, I'm certain both of them have shining reviews.

Thank you  :)  I may be visiting the GTA soon and I was thinking about what to eat since they replaced my favourite downtown restaurant (Lick's. Loved their build-your-own chili dogs and burgundy cherry shakes) with a frikkin Times Square style digital billboard. Blah.

Not sure about going all the way to Scarberia...

Riverdale is ok.

But ok, if the place is as good as you say, I  could stay at a different hotel or smthg.

Yes West Indian curry is greenish and a different kind of spicy  :)

I've not tried a lot of west indian food bc I have to be careful with the spices. My tummy is kinda weak.

Just Jamaican patties, which they sell at every corner store and donut shop around Jane and Lawrence and parts of Cabbagetown.

I might try some roti, too.

Yeah writing about my favourite food makes me happy too  :)

I can't guarantee foods you've never really tried will agree with you. Better to stick to the boneless chicken if you decide to get a roti. It's very filling.

I know Lick's, been there twice. They would sing and dance while working away, it was too happy, or felt awkward for me, like where do they find their employees ? There was one within walking distance of Rotihut but it seems like it's gone now. All of the Lick's are gone.

Found this.

One time I swung by Harvey's and the cashier was out of character and singing the Harvey's jingle to customers loud and beautifully after they paid. Everyone in the line was like wow. He never sang for me and I was thinking, what ? Am I not good enough now ?

I appreciated this singing worker cause I know he wasn't told to hop by his employer, it felt more genuine and less awkward to me.

These places serve beef patties, they serve the Allen's Patty brand located here. This patty isn't like the Non-Nisa or Patty king brand. I've known them for some time, it's run by a Chinese Jamaican family with a hardcore Jamaican accent.

I'll admit the Allan's Patty has been toned down over time. They aren't as long/rectangular shaped as they used to be, but the filling inside is still superior to it's competition. It's like a suped up spiced up beef mixture with spices. The ones marked with a red dot are the spicy option.

As for the other places I've mentioned, they'll ask if you want spicy or mild.

Cabbagetown I did some landscaping work for my ex boss's neighbor several years ago, an old woman, I insisted on laying down a nylon sheet over the brick inlay but she wanted to do things her way. I then used to go there once a year to pull weeds from in between the bricks. The job is to her satisfaction but I totally wouldn't take credit for that one even though it was me who did it.

But not far from her home, is the most spectacular graveyard I've ever seen. It's located in a small forest environment right next to the Don Valley and it has a strong elvan vibe, like being in a movie. I see no images that does the place justice, and it's just a graveyard so I don't mean to overhype the place. It was just entreating to go there on a sunny day and to my shock I was blasted to the 16th century under the forest shade.
