I was born into religion too. Roman Catholic. Since I was a child, there hasn't been a single day I haven't thought about God. And I mean every single day. Last I checked I'm over 15,000+ days old. Breakfast Lunch and Dinner, and in between I think about God.
Eventually by my teens I have been going to Church all that much, while now I don't go at all. In my mid 20's I've questioned if God really exists, so I did some deep diving. Just collecting information on various religious beliefs. Of course I cannot prove anything but I've had certain experience, like receiving mental downloads to having an unexpected wild experience when I practiced OBE meditation exercises.
When asked I'd say there is a prime creator. The evidence is right in front of us, but we're so used to seeing it, it seems normal and of course it's the norm. That's all normal is. We expect special FX when presented with evidence, but it's as surreal as what you see and experience now. As you are, being in the flesh is all you know, while the idea of an afterlife must be a world of transparency where everyone looks ghostly. My studies and other experiences would suggest the next life is more real than this one.
But yes. I broke away from Catholicism, because I've seen a lot of wrong with it according to what's written in the Bible. For example it's written...
“You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God."
- Leviticus 26:1
Or
“You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
- Exodus 20:3-6

There are other things. Like how it's common for a narcissist to become a priest, simply because they enjoy speaking over others on an alter, with envested powers from the highest to wed others and make holy water and holy bread, or have a more potent prayer. We then see and hear about children getting molested or abused and even killed by the Church. ( Canada has a case of that with natives, where some missing children bodies were found that were linked to the church ). That example is extreme, but this happens in the church a lot, because sick people tend to get into this field. Makes you wonder if the Church is under attack. I do think we're being tested, of course if we're wrong we could then be destroyed, so don't take my word for it.
In the modern day demonic possession would come across as a mental disorder. One might not even believe in demonic possession, but even they can say, "IF it were real, we'd think it's just a mental disorder". Meanwhile some mental disorders have a talent for chaos, that doesn't just destroy the host, but anyone who is close with the subject, gets smashed with precision.
I leave an open channel to that possibility.
Seek God for yourself. We're made in his image and likeness, we're more powerful than we give ourselves credit for. With that you CAN know.... It's more pleasing to the creator, when we seek him out for ourselves as opposed to being force fed his existence from birth without question, like an ignorant sheeple. It's been said when we seek God we find him, I say that is true. Again I can't prove anything, I can only tell you I've been through that.
I also don't really preach either. I only talk about God when it's brought up, because I know the effect preaching really has. It's very off putting, and it makes the religious seem naive to the atheist. Then debates turn into Science Vs. Religion, but I say, spirituality can be scientific too. It's why most scientists don't mess with quantum physics. Cause we don't really understand it, and it's proven itself to the point where we're making technology with it, without understanding it. When you look into what physicists are saying, they conclude that the fabric of everything is pure consciousness, and many of them have become theists.
Modern Science suggests we're made of stardust, while the book of Genesis which was written thousands of years ago suggests we were made from dust. As a matter of fact, we create dust constantly shedding our skin which is why our environment needs dusting. It's because we occupy it.
The details are endless. Big Bang is a theory, except no one know what could have caused the movement to create a spark, plus, space did not exist so there couldn't possibly have been a movement since there were no directions.
I think, everything in this universe. The water, everything, was brought here from another place. Though this universe is based on entropy, energy is neither created or destroyed, and water, is as old as the universe. What you're made up of, is as old as the universe. Even older than the Earth, since the Earth is comprised of materials that are older than itself in it's current form.
DNA ? This is a program. A protocol. A design. It's ingenious beyond what we've ever done. And it's been done millions of times over on this spec of dust in the universe and each design serves one another in a, forgive me for saying so, a circle of life, where we rely on the existence of other creatures and plants to survive in very profound ways. From food supply, to recycling of oxygen. The fact we have lungs is a connected dot, same with the air being invisible, so the light can pass through it, for the eye. We have eyes. Out hands have a purpose. The whole arm/body does. Sound, we have ears. Yes this was intentional. There are those who think all of this happened without a consciousness. That it was one big accident, possible because the universe is so big. They too believe energy cannot be created of destroyed, only converted, kinda like H2o going from gas to liquid to solid, but in other ways, like alternating current, to electricity usage, to heat exhaustion as it goes ever so faint into the ether, leaving behind ionized air. We use electricity but even that is eternal. Our bodies are electric too but that's just another functional thing to our complexities.
How the big bang happened in the first place puzzles them. Stephen Hawkings colleague Roger Penrose is a theist, and he suggests it was a self collapsing wave function that caused the big bang. Self collapsing ? Indeed, it would have to be. But what is an example of a self collapsing wave function, in the inanimate universe ? A mind.
