Regardless of your religious views, you cannot dismiss the experience of consciousness. Somehow, your mind takes various forms of input and processes it into something perceivable for you. Who knows if things really look, feel, sound, taste, or smell like we perceive; after all, animals and insects are known to have drastically different ways of interpreting senses. Therefore, sensory experience isn't even objective. Though the spider might see something very different when you hurl a rock at it, that rock is still there. So there is forms of matter and energy coming at you at all times but the fact different species experience this totally different is telling.
Pretty much, your mind is an antenna that is capable of taking in all of these waves and rays and interpreting it in a way your consciousness can understand. Take away the antenna and what's left? All these dispersed waves, rays, particles, ect.... All known to be forms of energy. Your spirit is just a bunch of energy and your mind solidifies it into what you are experiencing right now.
On top of your base sensory experience being perhaps not all you see, with humans in particular we take this to a whole other league when compared to other earthly species. We have a consciousness that can take all of these sensory inputs we process, and then deeply analyze these things, hence the sciences, philosophies, civilizations, art, culture, ect. We can glean consistent axioms about what we are perceiving and use these axioms to come up with the best objective ways to improve the experience of this sensory consciousness. But as good as our mind is at analyzing and postulating, it is equally talented at twisting and warping far beyond reality.
The variety of ways your mind can convince you of things that are inaccurate and by extension, of maladaptive ways to cope with what you inaccurately perceive is, pun intended- mind boggling. And we all wind eachother up and lash out, which perpetuates and spreads the self deception to other people who then cope. It's like being stuck by imaginary barbed wire and in the mind's frantic effort to get free of it, it gets completely entangled in it. Consequently, most people are very far from having an honest realization about what you are, where you came from, and where you're going.
You may not know these things totally but it isn't hard to gleam a notion of what's going on beyond the veil of what our mind is showing us. It lies between the lines in the synchronicities and random lapses in sensory experience that you may experience on occasion. That vague sense that you are totally encompassed and immersed in something far beyond what your mind is capable of perceiving. Call it deja vu, enlightenment, whatever you want... But it's something. However, many people are far too caught up in their own entanglements to really consider these things; it's all about who hurt them, who they're gonna hurt, if they look good, ect. Shallow worries that ultimately hold no weight in the grand scheme of your consciousness. And until you begin to untangle the trap, you will be stuck in it and not able to move on in your existence.
So you gotta sit back and make an honest analysis of your priorities. Are the things that motivate your actions and fuel your cognitive activity actually things that matter? In the end, those people will be gone. Their energy not, but this form is temporary and if it wasn't there wouldn't be death. Cease all of your petty concerns and get ready to be dispersed into scattered energy until you consolidate in some other conscious existence.
