If they want to talk about it it'll come up on it's own, otherwise they're probably tired of those kinds of questions.
Why do you assume they're tired about those kinds of questions, but not other questions that don't come up?
I suppose I don't understand why anyone would discourage asking people "where are you from?" I get asked that a lot, and it gives me a chance to talk about my culture. What could be more fun?
I have to say, though, I can sense this huge discomfort from Americans whenever I talk about my culture, because they're so afraid they're going to offend me or something. It never happens around people from Europe, Asia, or Africa. It's like one of these weird American quirks (although people from the midwest, who seem more down-to-earth anyway imho, don't seem to give a shit).
What is so bad about recognizing that people have different cultural heritages? It feels like the society caters to a few hyper-sensitive individuals.
It seems perfectly natural that if you're in Japan, for example, that people don't assume you're Japanese. Would you take offense at that?
Imagine they were all "don't ask the white guy where they're from, it's microaggression, let's all be polite and tolerant." Then they just smiled at you and were, like, super uncomfortable if you mentioned stuff about your primitive Ohio culture, just nodded away. Then they go play with their Japanese friends the moment they realize they can't have any connection with you since they need to tiptoe around you so as not to be offensive.
Yeah, it’s freaking weird man. All it does is cause more division and hate. No question should be off limits, at least in America. This is the land of the free! Free to ask any questions you want 😁
Why are you a pedophile
Ha ha ha, who said I was?
