Affordable Home Decor

I just want to share the "good finds" I'm obsessed with because their quality and aesthetic appeal... it just goes to show you really don't have to spend $500-$3,000 on an area rug. It's completely unnecessary.

I actually recommend on these sort of items, going for the cheaper, as rugs tend to be something that don't last forever, and you inevitably will want to replace every 5-7 years. All furniture, as I've learned in design, has a wearability, or an expiration date.

Obviously things like rugs and carpeting are some of the worst offenders, and no matter what price you pay, they eventually become tired and worn out.

That's why I recommend, being economical with your purchases in these kind of items that really aren't meant to last forever no matter how you slice it, and a higher price isn't likely going to increase its longevity significantly.

I'm really impressed with mytexashouse Rugs, because I was on the hunt for the perfect 'white' rug that will go with my 'glam and preppy' room aesthetic, for an office, or glam room. It's just my dream to have a really girly office, or a 'pink room' which is essentially just, like a man cave but, for girly things. I was inspired by none other than instagram's 'pink rooms' and youtubers 'dream offices', and originally when I searched for the 'look' I wanted, I was finding high end prices to match my high end style.

For a more modern look...

These are also available on Amazon, I could see the dark grey green being really nice in a moody entryway, with darker warm brown wood floors, and a black restoration hardware sort of style large entryway table against the wall, and a large modern square mirror, and some light green accent plants like lambs ear or olive?

What are you favorite rug looks? Any good deals and home finds you feel are worth sharing, add to this thread. Show me!

Here's a good example of what you can do with the grey jute rugs from NuLoom

Dark and moody meets Malibu surf contemporary.... inspo for the grey jute rug

This isn't my personal style but this is one angle you can take restoration hardware, and I know a lot of people love this more rustic and rich dark minimal feel, so I like to play with different palettes and themes. A lot of brass hardware, rustic wood, warm brown leathers, and coastal influences like navy in particular. With minimalist contemporary staple pieces

This is sort of where I imagine the rug would go is in an entry way similar to this, but with darker wood floors like the one below:

The infamous eames chair is always a tasteful ode to Frank Lloyd wright in any modern contemporary home.

The blue, orange, and maroon in combination with grey and warm brown, sort of framed by splashes of black and more grey and topped off with hints of brass in the frame and the fixture, is the exact picture of what this modern moody 'Malibu contemporary' is that I am calling it.

Dark slate floors and rich warm brown woods, minimalist staples again with the black doors and a bit of frank Lloyd wright angles and rocks incorporated here. And the gold frame, accented with a brown is sort of the exact sort of... playful direction this almost funky modern style can go. It leaves room for unexpected minimal quirks and works of art. The gold is tied together with the gold-is brass hardware in the lamp and the barstools which I believe elevates the luxury up a knotch whenever you add these sort of metals.

I feel like everyone's doing the 'affordable' angle though, even people who are well off to fit in. Why not spend a little more for the distinction?

Quick design fashion falls apart so quickly though, you're basically paying the same thing in the long run.
