Is the full debate worth watching?
It was alright. If you're interested in the state of society and you have patience, it's an interesting talk. But kind of a long haul. Marxism and communism were the main focus for a while, but ended up being backdrops. The meat of the discussion was about how society appears to be failing. Peterson offers his psychoanalytic perspective, while Zizek gives his philosophical positions, such as that absolute freedom is detrimental, psychologically. Zizek's..."mannerisms" keep things interesting. If you're bored 40 minutes in, you probably won't like the rest.
Is the full debate worth watching?
Honestly, it kinda dragged.
The first half was sort of a waste of time. It was just Peterson and Zizek individualy stating their cases back and forth to the crowd. Imo it didn't really become worth watching until they sat down and had an actual conversation.
They sit down and talk around the 1:38:58 mark
TPG is trying to blackpill me on Peterson make him stop
Interesting points in this video, however I feel like Peterson's references to the philosophical and political are misinterpreted. He seems to draw parallels with these topics, and the psycho- and sociological ideas that he presents. So it's not necessarily Postmodernism which he critiques as much as the train of thought which accompanies certain ideas, as well as for Marxism.
I always just saw Peterson as out to win in Social Debate instead of Formal Debate by using pre-modern ideas through a post-modern lens (alongside some surprisingly unfair debate tactics).
He's in it for the audience, not his opponent.
