And here's the obligatory reminder that the order and ratios matters more than the scores themselves, the overall shape rather than it's size. 

As self-appraisal someone's 4 might be another's 5, and however they see themselves is liable to heavily impact the results (like CS's shift in answers being over being 'a good person now' for example throwing skew at it). As such the order matters more than the specific numbers. Even something as simple as how agreeable versus contrarian the person is with the test questions is liable to lead to less vs more extreme numbers, so really the order the traits are in matter more for comparison. 

I really thought my selfishness would score higher, must be over how they phrased the questions.

I have questioned how much that trait might be affecting how I answer questions. Any of the ones about threat of pain or retaliation are like "Eh", while social things like wasting someone's time feel heavier to consider. 

In a lot of cases when I see someone in physical pain anyway I end up putting myself into their shoes... as if it were me. That has to be impairing how I look at the phenomenon overall. 

Otherwise with lower ego scores it seems that I get those kicks out of watching others go through failure on their own, essentially Schadenfreude. It's even been part of my Youtubing and Redditing. Most of 'poking the beast' from me's been fact checking, if they're on the same page about themselves it stops working while if it touches on something unresolved it'll bring things out of them.

 Yes I am a bit of masochist. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy feeling pain. But I'm not a major masochist or a sexual masochist. I just sometimes enjoy feeling pain it wakes me up.
