eternal hell might not be a thing upon studying the Old Testament

Malachi 4:1-3

4 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts.

this seems to be evidence for annihilation

I still don't want to be annhialated by fire though and would rather be in eternal life than give in to any of this worlds sinful pleasures

Jesus feels lovely, the loveliest emotions I have ever experienced

I'll keep my Jesus, thank you

do you think that they will be in conscious torment eternally or cease to exist after being punished on the Day of the Lord ?

I used to think that it was going to be the former, and now am leaning towards the latter

there are scriptures which seem to support both, which is weird, because ultimately only 1 or the other is the truth

I have had an obsession with knowing which it is for a while

I still believe in annihilation.

Although the Spiritism belief also has merit to me, in my more optimistic moods.

to be honest, that passage in Malachi, upon reconsideration, could have just been talking about like a day in the human timeline where he was going to give people victory, like a normal winning of a war, it wasn't necessarily referring to THE Day of the Lord, or the final judgement

so hmm, the thing with God is that there is like the human timeline, and then there is the eternal, and how He sees everything from the eternal perspective

The Bible contradicts itself a lot, was written by the hands of more than one mortal man, and has undergone tons of revisions and linguistic interpretation. I wouldn't worry so much about it, especially if you're headed to Heaven anyway.

Would you accept a life of sin more readily if annihilation rather than eternal torment were the case?
