How is an eternity in hell a just punishment

for only a human lifetime of sin?

https://www.gotquestions.org/eternity-hell-just.html

The Bible says that hell is eternal (Matthew 25:46). Many people struggle with the justice of that. They question how it is just for God to punish a person for eternity in response to only a human lifetime of 70, 80, 90, or even 100 years of sin. How does a sinner’s finite lifespan merit an infinitely long punishment?

There are two biblical principles that clearly declare eternity in hell to be the just punishment for sin, no matter how long one’s earthly life lasted.

First, the Bible declares that all sin is ultimately against God (Psalm 51:4). The extent of the punishment depends, in part, on the target of the crime. In a human court of law, a physical assault against an individual will usually result in a fine and possibly some time in jail. In contrast, a physical assault against the president or prime minister of a country will likely result in a lifetime in prison. And this is the case despite the fact that the crime was a one-time offense, not a continual, ongoing action. God is infinitely higher and greater than any human being. How much more are our crimes worthy of a great punishment in light of the fact that our sins are against God (Romans 6:23)?

Second, the idea that we cease sinning after death is not taught in the Bible. Are those who go to hell suddenly sinless and perfect? No. Those who go into eternity without Christ will be confirmed in their wickedness. The hard-hearted will be eternally hard-hearted. There will be “weeping and gnashing of teeth” in hell (Matthew 25:30), but no repentance. Sinners in hell will be given over to their own nature; they will be sin-infected, evil, immoral, and depraved beings for all of eternity, forever unredeemed and unregenerate. The lake of fire will be a place of eternal rebellion against God—even as that rebellion is judged (Revelation 20:14–15; cf. Revelation 16:9, 11). Unsaved people do not only sin for 70, 80, 90, or 100 years. They sin for eternity.

What it comes down to is this—if a person wants to be separated from God for eternity, God will grant that desire. Believers are those who say to God, “Your will be done.” Unbelievers are those to whom God says, “Your will be done.” The will of the unsaved is to reject salvation through Jesus Christ and remain in sin; God will honor that decision, and its consequences, for eternity.

So let me get this straight, because those who've sinned are sent to hell it's justified that they stay there because of how they continue to sin... but they also can't just stop sinning while they're down there, right?

System's rigged.

your opportunity to be receptive to God's desire for a relationship with you and with all of His children (and His ability to put your sinful nature into remission and heal you and restore you to a pure and sanctified lifestyle, not to say that any of us can be completely perfect while we are still in this lifetime but we should try our best to become as close to it as possible with Jesus's help and power to cleanse us from evil) is in this lifetime, and if you continue to deny it your entire lifetime (your lifetime being God's trial period for you), you will be condemned to eternal hell

it is perfectly fair and just

You haven't reasonably answered how it is fair and just to spend an eternity somewhere for what you do in like 50 to 80 years of life. Once you're in Hell you're effectively stuck there in spite of His ability to 'put your sinful nature into remission', and it'd seem that you can fuck up badly enough in Heaven to be cast down but you cannot do enough good from Hell to be ascended.

I don't see how it isn't disproportionate punishment, a human lifetime is not very long when you consider it next to eternity. It'd be like punishing a child for their entire lives for how they had a candy habit when they were six. Some may not even live long enough to learn their lessons before dying.

The idea of saying these people 'chose' to go to Hell is like claiming every prisoner and mental patient caught wanted to be put away, when there could easily be pathological issues and environmental factors that gave them a disadvantage if not made that route impossible for them. Again when you consider the numbers, the time spent being punished is disproportionate compared to the time we're tested for Heaven, something you have a better chance of winning the lottery than achieving when you consider the 144,000 number.

Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. - Revelations 14:1

System's rigged. If we as people could have any power over this situation or any other situation like it we would not stand for it.

you take verses out of context, because you do not want a relationship with the fruits of the Spirit living inside of you and cleansing you and pouring out from you onto everyone else

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

when you accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord, then you will be able to properly understand the scriptures

1 Corinthians 1:17-30

17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:

23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

24 But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:

27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Could you point out how it's out of context here, because I don't see how your following passages change anything. This lore isn't even my conclusion, but rather one other Christians believe.

Galatians 5:22-23
