the only thing I can guess is that, I've been handling my mom's vintage bag which she had bought used from someone else, and that person must of been a heavy smoker and thick amounts of tobacco residue is just soaked into the absorbent leather handles of the bag 

because I do touch that bag everyday like several times a day, it's obviously has to be the bag, either that or my steering wheel from other people touching it who smoke very heavily/people smoking in my car and the leather of the steering wheel absorbing it? 

I dunno. had to really think about it for a second like, 'how is this possible' lol
