It was creepy how my tiktok knew I was having a depressive episode the day I got fired and was recommending me videos it normally doesn’t recommend me all related to sad things of like people crying and being sad and talking about being fired
Like… I didn’t even tell it that I was depressed, it just knew. It literally saw/heard me crying or something Idk or heard me say into my phone “I got fired” and started recommending me content based on people crying and people who got fired
I …. And that’s when I realized the app was too powerful and closes out of it because there’s something deeply unsettling about this lol
It’s like imagine a robot leaning into you and being like “oh you are sad, I am sad too. Let me be your friend who is sad with you.” And then stares at you and starts crying when you cry.
and then you say “what the fuck?” And it just won’t stop mirroring you
And it’s like “what the fuck?”
like isn’t that…. What a psychopath does to manipulate people?? No?? Okay.

pinterest also has been doing it for a while where it will actually read my mind giving me ads for things I was thinking about and I don’t know how it’s possible.

It's more likely a coincidence, if not some sort of confirmation bias.

I definitely get thoughts like that, which accounts for the cases I have looked into where they can trace and then predict shit about you, but without some form of proof I'm more prone to doubting myself. 🤷
