University of Washington Seeks Volunteers for Next Generation COVID-19 Booster Vaccine Phase I Clinical Trial
Clinical investigators at the University of Washington School of Medicine used local media recently to call volunteers for a COVID-19 booster trial. A Phase 1 safety and tolerability-focused study, this next group of volunteers will participate in the second stage of the study. During the first stage, the experimental vaccines were administered to unvaccinated participants. Now those earlier volunteers will receive a booster shot. This vaccine study targets an array of COVID-19 proteins in a bid to offer far greater protection against SARS-CoV-2 strains and variants. This study investigates Gritstone bio’s CORAL, a next-generation COVID-19 vaccine. This experimental vaccine was designed to help fight not only the Spike protein but also elicit a broad T cell response against epitopes from multiple viral genes outside of spike. Other trial site’s involved in this study include Emory University, Saint Louis University, and Baylor College of Medicine.
