I guess everyone grows old and dies at one point or another but our capitalist game winning psychopath Jeff Bezos refuses to do just that.

He's currently gotten the attention of Altos Labs in silicon valley, a company dedicated to finding a way to stop the aging process and live forever (or at least 50 years longer). They're a group of scientists traveling to get millionaires/billionaires like Jeff and Yuri Milner to invest in their research.

It's got some pretty notable scientist at the helm such as the dude that created the half human half monkey embryo

The guy that made a fairly accurate biological clock that measures human aging

And many others, I don't see Tony Wyss-Coray and hopefully it stays that way.

What's a best-case scenario?

Even if Bezos' motivation is selfish, he's still got the money. It's good for this kind of research to get their funding. If the scientists and researchers have the best of intentions to distribute any successful discovery to the public, it's fine to just take Bezos' money. Certainly people have no basis for trust, considering everyone in the world doesn't believe or have faith in basic human decency, etc. But it's this kind of thinking that may actually turn most harmful. It stagnates any chance for positive outcome.

Barring that, hopefully we can count on our 4chan allies or whatever to hack the information and make it open source.

We're coming to something like the plot of Altered Carbon.
