i mean it seems like majority of them just want money for whatever drug habit got them there in the first place. but for women i think TAMPONS lmao...

 Si!

Other forum have said pads and baby wipes, said that depending on city i shouldn't worry too much about food as there's many organizations that aim to feed them, that it's almost like a race.

Underwear, socks, tarps and bags are most requested

Lots of cities have places that serve food at set times throughout the day, and they may also have food banks. Getting a bed should be a priority unless you have somewhere safe to sleep. There are homeless shelters for that, and even halfway houses.

A good way to get into somewhere quickly is to get admitted to a detox unit and then seek placement from there. You can lie about being an alcoholic, but you may want to have a beer first so it shows up in urine analysis. Hopefully you enjoy benzos, but they can also give you barbiturates. Most units won't toss you out on the street if they know you're homeless; they'll get you transferred somewhere. Detox units can cut through a lot of the red tape involved in placement with waiting lists, interviews & assessments, etc. You'll have your essential needs met at a halfway house, but expect to do programs all day for 2-4 months until they line you up with work. Shelters are a lot better, but make sure you ask about the program and what the daily routine is like.

In some cities like LA, there's probably no good way to be homeless. The shelters are all fucked, Skid Row is too, and the social welfare system is jammed up from bureaucracy and sheer volume of people trying to get help. If you're stuck in a terrible city and you can get $100-150, take a Greyhound to a better one. Look up reviews of shelters on Google, call the places up. One of my friends did this and went to Denver, and it worked out pretty well for him.

I've caught a glimpse of homelessness. It was a time I was renting downtown and met the locals. A lot of them are homeless because of addiction. They do collect welfare cheques and they'll spend it all on some illegal substance they intend to sell for profit but they end up consuming most of it themselves.

I let a homeless person stay with me for awhile, and he was grateful, he'd steal things and bring it to me. He also stole bikes a lot. I told him to make it vanish and stop bringing stolen things around me.

Other times he'd be laced up on something I can't remember what it was,  maybe Valium. Whatever it was it would make him treat people like shit.

Went to a bar he got us drinks, and he got into a beef with the bartender, and of course all of that reflected onto me.

He had a daughter and one time he was wasted and told me about "a friend" who molested his daughter, then tried to rationalize what this friend did.

I can't speak for all homeless people, but a part of that has to do with failure to get along with others, and continued failure to get along with others.
