It's very dissatisfactory when I see someone's bait dangling, and someone else intervenes and calls it out. It is purely out of vanity that people need to point and yell "AHA! I FOUND IT! I WAS THE ONE WHO FIGURED THIS OUT!"

- Good bait is tailored to its victim. So of course for a third party it's more obvious and it shows nothing about your intellectual abilities except an eagerness for acknowledgment.

- When you see general bait and you figured it out, good for you. In my experience it's more satisfying to watch others take it and then you can clown on them, rather than to grab the petty victory immediately and crush the potential before it even gets anywhere.

Calling out bait is also a form of trolling. I love it when wannabe e-sociopaths sperg when their game is ruined and they lose their self-image boost for the day.

If it's a matter of taste, I get it. But most of the time people call out bait because it makes them feel clever. I prefer to practice some restraint and let good bait dangle.
