How close to/far from normal are things where you live?

I'm asking because I have to travel a lot for work, and I've realized that some places are living very different lives compared to others? (owing to COVID-19, mainly)

What are things like where you live? Are they relatively normal, heavily restricted, or somewhere in between?

You can obviously answer without saying where, if you're worried about that. I'm just interested to know what's going on around the world.

I'm in Canada, halfway between Detroit and Toronto.

Do you care about the situation where I am?

Of course, I'm equally interested in everywhere/everyone's perception.

it's mixed. some people seem to not care at all, and a small percentage seem to still wear masks and don't want to meet in person for anything.

like some therapists are doing in person, some will only do virtual.

some work related events and meetings are being held, some people will only allow virtual meetings still.

young people do not care at all though, don't know a single young person who's being cautious

the tourist areas are overcrowded to the point that they are reaching capacity early in the day and having to close it off to letting anymore people in, the restaraunts are absolutlely packed surrounding these areas as well. beaches, theme parks, etc.

for some reason all encounters involving birds at wildlife type places though are closed off due to covid. i guess there is a rule about not allowing people and bird enclosures to mix during pandemics. the mutation was caused by minks in close proximity last time so, it makes sense idk.

a lot of job industries are shifting around like crazy, thats complicated to explain but, its yeah, major upheavals going on in that area. now hiring signs everywhere. companies are having a hard time getting people to work, and then the ones who are employed, are not really doing their job very well sometimes due to just, a sort of post shock burn out, a lot of people are, tired and lacadasical. that being said, if you have your head on straight, it's a prime time to sweep someone out from under their feet and steal their job. hate to say it that way but, a lot of young people, are replacing older people right now. there's a lot of reasons for that, which i won't explain here at length but, it's prime time for a young person to get their foot in the door with an entirely new career path that they wouldn't even of fathomed being hired in pre-pandemic.

and, being the florida is the space coast, and space is a really big thing right now- anything involving space industry is fucking booming here business wise. new companies are popping up that are hiring hundreds of employees, and they're spending a lot of money on new things all the time. it's like, texas has oil, florida has ROCKETS. you think of florida you think of disney world, but, the biggest flow of money right now is all going straight to the space coast so if you can manage to have any involvement with that in any small way, you'd be set. even if you just, work for a part manufacturer that sells things to rocket companies. like, there are thousands of people benefitting from the space industry here in florida, lots of people are moving to new cities that are surrounding and near where these facilities are, (also, defense companies as well), to the point that, like- the explosion is so large, that entire new cities are being developed, that were once completely rural, flat, and had very few populating the area. like, they're actually building an entire fucking city in lake nona right now...

https://tavistockdevelopment.com/project/lake-nona-town-center/

lake nona is popping OFF i mean, they're building entire fucking hospitals and new EVERYTHING. entire malls, dentists office, etc. this link is just one example of many many building projects happening there.

real estate is insane right now and due to that many people are listing their house just for fucks to see if they can get anything for it. that being said, it's very hard to attain property for a reasonable cost. it just boomed after covid and everything was doubled in price, not kidding.

i won't lie to you, covid is genuinely on the rise here in florida again, no one seems to care at all though for the most part, no one follows social distancing or wearing masks and everything is very crowded, including the beaches.

it's so hot and humid here, it's difficult to wear a mask and the mandate was taken off months ago.

some adults seem to be a bit more protective of their children making them sanitize and wash their hands and trying to teach them things like, don't touch anything, don't crawl on the floor, don't put your hands in your nose or mouth, etc.

my family has been gathering like normal again, although with 'delta' on the rise i don't think it's a good idea for the time being.

everyone since 2021 has began has been getting sick repeatedly in my family, but we recover from it, whatever it is. it's so mild no one's ever bothered to get tested but, everyone in my family has gotten sick twice, and now my sisters family is currently experiencing a 3rd round of it, not sure what it is honestly.

but, when one person gets it, we all get it. so, everyone's been sick twice already just in the last 3 months.

i made a joke like, 'if i get sick a third time, i'm moving to a remote island, this planet is diseased.'

in other areas like, i travelled to north carolina, they seem to be having quite a difficult time keeping people working, i went to a hotel once there and they literally tried to hire us, who were just, staying there for a few days. because they genuinely had no staff, and no maid staff.

a lot of stores are just randomly closed at hours you wouldn't expect, and hours are not accurately reflected online as it used to be, things have changed in that area and are, seeming very randomly decided. it's not surprisng to go somewhere and then see, oh, they closed, they stopped operating, the business doesn't exist anymore, or they just only are open for like a couple hours a day when they feel like it maybe lol

they're having a hard time getting any employees and the now hiring signs are everywhere.

the only industry that seemed to really have any 'hold' to it was construction there- it's, booming, for some reason and, everyone seems to work in construction there. and those are the jobs that are, being held. because they pay better.

other industries are, the same like i said here, employees are lacadiscal, and just not functioning at full speed and efficiency, they're failing to take their jobs seriously, and the holes in the companies are larger, less employees are around so one person are having to do the job of several and compensate for the 'overflow' and the jackedup ness the company is experiencing... from other issues that the entire globe is facing, like, extreme shipping delays and surcharges and upcharges regarding freight and things being held at borders or at docks and just, it's a whole entire mess, it's a train wreck.

so it's causing this just downward trickle or domino effect of, overwhelm and lack of proficiency, delays, etc.

This is pretty typical for red states. I think some are a little envious.

Most people that understand the actual risks are not fearful and can live their lives. Young people have very little risk.

Shelter the old and sick, the young are to live their lives.
