i was watching a lot of emergency alert system stuff earlier; it's kind of interesting how people use tones to induce mass alertness (or panic). one i seen a while ago that stands out for me is the chicago tornado siren, some call it the "ice cream truck from hell"

apparently there's a whole community dedicated to what kind of buzzers are used for various alarm systems...i'm autistic enough to appreciate the sounds but not enough to get into the equipment

Weird that they'd be designed to induce panic rather than just alertness. Panic seems counterproductive.
