Dima, can you tell us one story from your times in the russian army..?
nothing to tell. ordinary conscript service without combat experience. the only thing I remember is that I was young and almost healthy mentally, but even then I could be diagnosed as bipolar. I also remember that we were paid three dollars a month and we were fed some kind of slop, like pigs. so we stole diesel, gasoline and sold everything copper, aluminum and brass to Kazakhs in order to buy vodka, marijuana, decent cigarettes and food from them. I served on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Sary-Shagan missile range. In the 60s, an American pilot Francis Powers flew through our training ground on a U-2 reconnaissance aircraft. then he was shot down near Sverdlovsk.
