the question was based on vectors maybe you just dont like vectors
let g, p , o be complex numbers
e1 = p - i(p - g)
e2 = o + i(o - g)
t = (e1 + e2)/2 = (p + o + ig - ip - ig + io) / 2 = (p + o - ip + io) / 2
t is independent from the choice of g, so choose any g and go from there.
Edit I had the signs the other way around.
