"For all of my dark haired friends - I’m wearing my new lipstick and blue mascara to remind you all that facial hair is NORMAL!"
this girl needs a nurturing mother to teach her how to take care of herself.
not taking care of yourself is not a trend and self neglect and lack of healthy habits and internal balanced metabolic health is not something we should be encouraging for health reasons.
body hair actually allows accumulation of bacteria, and acne is usually a sign of the same issue.
it can be treated rather than normalized to improve her quality of life, acne can be painful.
the reason why she appears a bit out of shape, perhaps she's had health issues or just had a baby, or there could be metabolic imbalances making it difficult to remain at a healthy BMI for her. but regardless, I always think people, while they still need to love themselves exactly where they're at- should generally strive to be their healthiest selves as recommended by a doctor.
Even being 5 pounds over weight increases your risk of heart disease or heart attack later in life, and the diet and life style that causes this body type typically is an indication of something unhealthy going on that impacts the health and longevity of your body, your internal organs, your metabolic health- and these factors can even impact your, mental health, your general wellbeing. Feeling fatigued, decreased sex drive/fertility, lowered immune system- increasing your risk for cancer- or other issues like, gallblader and liver diseases and infection.
You don't want to have a build up of intramuscular fat as this is the fat that surrounds your organs, including your heart. And leads to problems. Clogged arteries, arterial hardening, blood pressure and diabetes, as well as decreased gut health balance, which can cause all sorts of problems! Or lead to gut-diseases which are *really* not fun.
Let's take an educated approach to our health and wellbeing, and decide for ourselves what is going to benefit us and our health first. Yes it's okay to have flaws and imperfections, and we shouldn't shame others for this. But when you wade into the territory of self neglect is when it starts becoming a bit of an unnecessary and sort of dangerous line that is crossed.
Loving ourselves where we are at, also includes taking care of ourselves at some basic level of hygiene. Even neglecting oral health can cause a huge health problem or build of plaque or even infections that lead to the heart.
There is a deeper rooted reasoning in that which we subconsciously find certain signs of health and wellbeing attractive.
Pretty much that. There are of course some obscene standards for what is beautiful or attractive, such as the women on the cover of Vogue who resemble children more than adults, but that's a story of its own. Men generally find women with healthy weight and curves more attractive than rail-thin women; studies bare this out.
The aspect of the feminist movement that was rebelling against these standards set by the fashion industry seemed like a good trend, and so did some forms of the body acceptance movement. Where things go wrong is when "Look at me, I am flawed health-wise. Take it or leave it" becomes a virtue signal. If you want to live that way, fine, but people like the woman above want to be seen as brave and redefining standards by what...showing a mustache, a zit on her ass, and a flabby belly? I think at a certain point, some women need to develop their own self-esteem as well, and not try to blame the media for how they feel about their own bodies or feel like trendsetters for being OK with being out of shape.
